The Cadillac SRX is a mid-size luxury crossover that provides seating for five passengers along with 61 cubic feet of total cargo space behind the front two positions.  The reasonably heavy SUV offers above average handling, performance that does not come at the expense of ride comfort thanks to the engineering efforts of Cadillac's design crew.  The Cadillac SRX offers StabiliTrak stability control, traction control and airbags that include side curtain, front side and forward units.  As with all GM products, the SRX also comes standard with OnStar and its various safety and security features.

The Cadillac SRX has consolidated its engine options into a single 3.6-liter V-6 that has been tuned to provide 308 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque.  A six-speed automatic transmission is standard, and buyers can choose between either front-wheel or all-wheel drive editions of the crossover.  Fuel mileage for the V-6 SRX is rated at 17-mpg in stop and go driving and 24-mpg on the highway.

The Cadillac SRX base trim (MSRP $35,985) offers a good helping of premium equipment, including dual automatic climate control, 18-inch wheels, imitation leather seats (with a power feature for the driver), a reclining second row, a CD player, satellite radio and an iPod interface.  The SRX Luxury (MSRP $40,515) adds a panoramic sunroof, genuine leather seats (heated and power adjustable for both forward occupants), parking assistance, a power liftgate, a rearview camera and spiffier interior lighting.  The SRX Performance (MSRP $44,330) steps up to an adaptive sport suspension system, a navigation system, quicker steering, HID headlights and surround sound audio, while the SRX Premium (MSRP $46,775) includes all of the above plus cooled front seats, three zones of automatic climate control, and seat heaters for the second row.

Standalone options for the Cadillac SRX include a rear seat entertainment system, a voice-controlled navigation system, surround sound and a hard drive for storing digital music files.

A list of cars similar to the SRX includes the 2012 BMW X3, 2012 Mercedes Benz GLK350 and 2012 Lexus RX350.
