STS is a Great Driving Car
Pros: The power the vehicle has, as it is On Demand. There is no lag when you hit the pedal,
Cons: Fit & Finish, but not thrilled with the front wheel drive either, as it pulls to the left on hard acceleration.
Although I purchased it used with 33,000 miles, and have had my share of totally unexpected repairs with the miles I put on, I am still very, very happy with the purchase, and would buy a newer model without further consideration. The ride is great, power band & acceleration excellent, and the gas mileage a huge plus. This car is fantastic on road trips and gets you there safely & tirelessly. I am not impressed with the fit and finish of the vehicle, as they used cheap materials that don't fit well, especially the dashboard. Small things break easily, and can be expensive to replace. Power train repairs can be costly, and some repairs came with lower mileage too, like the water pump & motor mount repairs. Those were costly repairs that really put a tarnish on my appreciation of the model. But once repaired, and taken on a trip, the love comes right back.- Recommend this vehicle to a friend? Yes

Pros: Value, performance, simple sofistication.
Cons: I wish it had the new 5 speed auto tranny - have you test drove one! - WOW!
Advice: Make 'em promise to fix the collapsable steering column, the right way, before you buy.
The 2002 Cadillac Seville is a dying breed, being revised in 2005 by even more technological refinement and sofistication. However, make no mistake about it, this dying breed is one of the best used car choices on the market, today. It is a total package of performance and luxury at a fraction of the price of it's foreign counterparts. Sometimes, reviews are only submitted when someone has purchased a lemon. This is typical and I understand their frustration. I, too, have bought cars like this and I have bought a lot of cars in my days! This time though, I feel I've got a winner! I replaced my tiring 1997 STS for a 2001 STS. I paid $13,995 for it and it has a mere 32,600 miles. Talk about a deal! Who in their right minds would buy a new car for the same amount. They might only be able to afford a Kia Rio, or something like it. I think I shopped right! I bought the newer model because I liked my old white diamond 1997. I like the looks. I liked the performance. I liked the smell of the quality leather. I liked all the creature comforts, and, hey, while it was not perfect in every way, it was close. It represented superb value and an excellent lifestyle experience! Also, when I bought the newer Cadillac I didn't have to trade in my old one. I hade two friends practically fighting over my 1997. I sold it for $8,000 and walked away whistling Dixie! Keep in mind that, in about 2002, Cadillac put in a new multi-link steering system. This was designed to buckle in front collisions. The problem is that tollerances were slightly off in the connectors, which create a clunking noise. The temporary fix for this clunking noise was to fully lube the joint connectors. This, for a while took care of the noise, however the lube job would have to be repeated to keep the noise and feel from returning. Cadillac has now revised the connectors and the tollerances are correct. Any complaint of this nature should now be remedied with a retrofit of the new steering column connetors. I was delighted when I bought my 2001 because I would'nt have to have a go-round with GM to get this problem looked after, properly. My car came with all the bells and whistles available (except for night vision and navagation) so, considering the price of the car, I was extatic! Bottom line. I fully recommend the Caddilac Seville STS. Keep America vital and buy a Caddy, today! -

Advice: Get it now, this was the last year it was made.
The best ride on the road today! My STS is fully loaded and handles like a charm. Most of my driving has been in less than the best weather, and while the BMW'ers skid and slide, I just drive right by. -

have only owned the car for about 1 nonth but it has already spent 3 days in the shop ....not good. Car is a pleasure to drive and very comfortable. Problem that i am experiencing is the service engine light comes on then off.Desler had to order parts for the emmission system ...they repaired it 3 weeks ago .... while it is doing it again. don't know what to think yet. -

I bought this Seville SLS model 31 May 2002. From the start there was a noise coming from the stering column on rough highways. Took maintenance Cadillac personnel a week to repair. Had 3,000 miles on car took 3 trips during routine check at 9,000 miles to get repaired finally. Had a recall 5 April 02 to have PCM re programmed by dealer. They put in wrong codes and transmission started acting up with engine service light coming on dash. transmission check indicated problems. Had to replace 2 & 4th cluthes, torgue converter and replaced all oil as burnt This was finally done by another dealer in Seattle. After 12,000 miles I have had no more problems. So beware of your dealer you bought the car from as there service department in most cases need alot of help, and Cadillac needs to check some to see if their doing good service or trying to get more money for doing things under warranties.
