Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
I LOVE this car! It is the 4th Cadillac I have had and it is by far the best of the lot! I got it in 2008 from my parents with ~14,000 miles, it now has 160,000. I drove it everyday to work until I retired in 2016. my husband also has one, a 2007, his second Cadillac, and he loves his as well. I'm gonna shed tears when I give it to my granddaughter on Thursday!
Each one gets better
Pros: size
Cons: 4 speed
Excellent comfort, peppy performancePros: COMFORT AND HANDLING
Cons: WOULD NOT START AFTER JUST 9,000 MILES
Advice: DO NOT PUCHASE ..THEY HAVE TOO MANY THAT DONT START AFTER JUST A FEW MILES AND DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THIS CAR NEVER SITS, I DRIVE IT EVERY DAY AND ON LONG DISTANCES
TEST DROVE GREATPros: Size
Cons: Having to run the car every three or four days to keep the battery charged
Advice: Do not by a Cadillac because GM will not stand by their products. They have sent me two emails concerning by complaint on not starting and informed me they would not discuss the problem again with me. Just drive the car more.
I bought the car Dec. 02, 2005. On February 10, 2006 car was setting in garage and would not start. When I bought the car the mileage was 56 and the first time it would not start the mileage was 412. On May 01, 2006 the mileage was 974 and car would not start and it was setting in my garage. I did not buy this car to have to drive it every day or every week. The dealer claims that they cannot find anything wrong the first time, they charged the battery and ran a series of tests on it. Yesterday they replaced the battery, charged the battery and ran another series of tests and said they could not find anything wrong. I know of another Cadillac (2006) in the neighborhood that has experienced the same problems. This must be an engineering flaw in the electrical systems, computer, or something. How many customers have complained of this problem? I tried to get the dealer to call technical service at GM to discuss this but to my knowledge this did not happen. I have asked on more than one occasion. Yesterday I asked that they at least notify GM that this problem exists and report all of the instances that this problem has been brought to them to correct. They tell me each time that I need to drive the car more. I paid too much for this car for this to be happening. My other car did not have this much mileage on it until it was about 18 months old. It still started and never gave any problem of this nature. I also hear that the Corvettes are facing this same problem on a regular basis and I know that this is not a car that people want to drive every day. There has to be a problem in the systems of these automobiles. If it can happen in my garage it can happen anywhere. I do not believe that driving the car more will solve the problem it may only delay or hide the problem for awhile.Pros: cooled seats
Cons: n/a
Advice: BUY IT!
Handles GREAT!!Pros: The overall comfort and space is what made the decision over a STS & Lucerne
Cons: While GM freshened the Styling some more should have been done.!!!
Advice: Look at and Test Drive the various cars before narrowing your choices.
I bought a DTS Luxury package III w/Nav & Adaptive Cruise. Before buying I used the GM site to learn about and locate dealers with a car that I was interested in, it is great. If I had not driven the DTS I would have bought a STS V8 Performance package. The DTS is the best when it comes to a quiet smooth riding car. It just seems to remove all the bumps & vibrations from the road. The DTS has plenty of interior space. (I do wish GM had put more storage niches in the DTS.) Cadillac needs to make the Magnetic Ride package available on some of the Luxury packages if not standare on the DTS. Learning all of the electronic functions with OnStar, Nav System, Adaptive Cruise, Info Center, Driver Memory settings, etc is an ongoing process. The symbols on some of the controls could be more intuitive. My only problems are that the doors need a slight adjusting and 1 plastic cargo net retainer was stripped. Our dealer Coulter Cadillac had the best inventory within 400 miles of Phoenix and did a great job of familiarizing us with the car & it's features.Pros: none
Cons: just the fact that it won't run.
Advice: we won't ever buy another GM product.
purchased cadillac dts on 1/23/2006, dealer had to pick up 3 days later, car wouldn't start, new battery installed, original had been re-charged so many times, wouldn't hold another charge. car kept overnight, returned next day and 4 days later had to be picked up again because it wouldn't run. car wouldn't run for us, wouldn't run for dealer. the had the car in their shop for 20 days..said it was the clock on the dash that was the problem..3 new batteriws installed in 3 weeks. picked up car today (22nd) and expect it to go out again in day or so. we are trying to get the car re-placed or re-purchased..all power appears to be with dealer..General Motors no help. will never buy a GM auto ever again.
