You know which brand has a surprisingly robust record of safety performance? Buick, which is now five-for-five in terms of Top Safety Pick winners and, with a bit of fuzzy math, can be considered to have achieved the same distinction with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Buick Regal, Buick Verano, Buick Enclave and Buick LaCrosse all previously earned the Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) earlier in the model year, and each member of that quartet also had been recognized as a 5-star overall safety performer in NHTSA’s New Car Assessment Program. Then, just a few days ago, the 2013 Buick Encore joined the Top Safety Pick team, while NHTSA added the Encore’s all-wheel-drive model to the list of 5-star overall safety performers. (The front-wheel-drive Buick Encore received a 4-star overall grade from NHTSA.)

“Safety is a top priority in Buick’s product renaissance, as evidenced by receiving these latest safety accolades for Encore,” responded Gay Kent, GM executive director of Vehicle Safety. “Our customers can have confidence in the safety performance of every Buick for sale today.”
