Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Hands fee phone, the i drive, leather heated seats, etc . Living the dream!
Advice: Drive the machine.I had a 2005 535i BMW and it was a wonderful car to drive. I now drive a new 2007 BMW 750I. The 535i turns you on; the 7 takes you where you have never been before! What an incredible machine, the rush is almost to much to handle. This automobile is a wolf in sheep clothing this in one badd responsive machine. Everything the pros say is true, agile, smooth, quiet,a head turner. Where ever I have been people stop and admire the car. At the light I get a thumbs up sign. The ladies are crazy about it. Every inch of this machine is outstanding.
Pros: the look
Cons: getting car sick driving it
Advice: take a long test drive2007 BMW 335I, SEDAN 4 DR, 3.0L L6 FI DOHC 24V, Bridgestone 18' low pro run flats. My first year has been filled with -Jerkiness when starting from a stopped position, or when geared down to corner -Lunging forward when braking. Very strong, pronounced downshifting - even at slower speeds -Harsh shifting between gears -iDrive frequently shutting down for no reason. -Low pro tires: side walls worn out after 15k miles (no refund offered)
Pros: Active Roll Stabilization - always flat through the corners!
Cons: Driver's seat massage - feels goofy.
Advice: Shop and push hard for a deal until Spring 09 when the next version arrives. This is my 4th BMW with a Lexus, Volvo, & Jeep thrown in as well. I must say it has exceeded my expectations. I bought it for business, especially for the quiet cabin and handsfree bluetooth phone for calls on the run - excellent - sounds like I'm on the handset of a land line! iDrive is a terrific interface, but I'm an industrial design/software guy - sorry if you're technologically challenged. Power, audio features, comfort seats, and active roll stabilization make this the driver's luxury car. I'll probably always buy them in the future.
Pros: I drive. Not too clustered interior classy
Cons: TOO many silly electrical problems
Advice: Live close to dealer and make sure they give you free 24hrs loaners, you are gonna need it! Nooo kiddin.. :)WAY TOO many silly problems! Why do you think of all cars BMW gives you the best warranty on service? Haha, you get the point :) If you live close to the dealer and don't mind their nice rentals buy the car. My friend bought a new BMW550 and same thing. It's a bit heavy on a start-up, you never get the pushing into the seat feeling, but once you get it going it accelerates nicely. Great on turns, just don't try 60 on turns on sandy roads, snow or gravel, you'll lose control. Happened to me in Vegas. Simple and classy iterior, not too clustered like most newer cars. Beige interior looks the best but hard to keep clean. I love it and I hate it :)
Pros: The silky smooth engine!
Advice: Buy it once and chances are you'll never own another brand.Truly the Ultimate Driving Machine! When sitting in the driver's seat you are well supported yet comfortable. The steering and stick feel like a handshake from an old friend. The engine is silky smooth and the transmission is flawless. The sport suspension is very tight, however, the standard suspension is comfortable for those not interested in high performance driving. A well rounded vehicle and definitely the pinnacle of sports sedans.
Pros: bluetooth capability
Cons: tiny wheels
Advice: Get the Sport Package, and the Zenon LightingApproaching the vehicle, you look for the sex appeal. Or any appeal of that matter. You click the unlock button. The car doesn't respond audibly, because the Anti-Theft system was not standard. Ok, fine. You look at the wheels and think geez !!! 1 maybe 2 inches would make quite a difference. After all I paid $38k for the car. Finally, I open the door and enter the cockpit. Ahhh... Now you feel understood. Now you remember why you fell in love with the car. You put in the key, and hit the start button like I do in the 750LI. I put the car in drive, (Actually DS mode) the car comes to life. Gratefull I didn't choose the complicated iDrive. I put on my playlist from my iPod. It's on for 30 seconds, until my tach exceeds 4,500 RPM. iPod off. Roar of the Inline-6 calls all the attention. Neck thrown back, knuckles white, Engine screeming. You never consider infidelity with another vehicle. Car & Driver are tuned in glorious harmony. If a car has ever had a soul. It's the new 3 series. Let's just say beauty is on the inside. Conclusion... 06' 325i is perfectly unpretentious, and a little too subtle from the exterior. Yet when you get behind the wheel and join in one accord. You know you made a sound decision when you bought the car. Great quality car, but prefer the previous 3 series styling.
Cons: Not enough storage space.
Advice: Don't go by all the reviews, this car is good not great, test drive one, then decide. The engine combined with the automatic transmission is very responsive and smooth. Handling is very good, you can take on curves without fear. The ride is not too bad for a sports sedan (then again, if you want a really smooth ride buy a grandma car like a Buick). MPG is quite good for 200+ hp V-6, I am averaging about 23MPG in the city, not bad.
