Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Comfort Access
Cons: Car has to be running to close moon roof or windows
Advice: It's ok to get the automatic, its just as fast and less to deal with in the corners. 3 differest modes. 330i is the way to go.Look forward to driving it everyday! Handling and cornering are superb. Acceleration is very good and I have the auto. Comfort is excellent, around town or on long trips. Get this car into some tight corners and you will have a blast! Go in faster than you feel comfortable with and she will take care of you.
Pros: Balance (everything works together exceptionally well)
Cons: Snug fit for rear passengers
Advice: If you want the best this is it!I'll make it short and sweet. If you want the best, test drive a 2005 330i with sport package (2006 models are not as attractive as last series). You'll thank me later.
Pros: push button start
Advice: good buy for the moneythe car is very stylist, flashy, you can't beat the 4year 50,000 mile warranty on everything including normal wear parts such as brake pads, rotors and anything you can think. Good buy for the money.
Pros: Intuitive controls and ergonomics - helps you focus on driving. Handles extremely well, especially with spirited driving.
Cons: Need to adjust my driving with other cars since I'm used to spirited driving which other cars can't handle. Cup holders are still bad. New models (Chris Bangle designs) look ugly. Can't wait until BMW outgrows this faddish styling.
Advice: Not for people who just want to get from point A to B. They won't appreciate what this car can do. There are many other cheaper, reliable and safe cars available. Like golf - if you're a hacker, don't buy a ProV1 since you won't know the difference.I now understand why a BMW is called the ultimate driving machine. It's exceptionally well designed in terms of fit, finish, feel, safety, ergonomics, performance, convenience features, body strength (does not rattle or rust like other cars) and overall quality. I've had some close calls (during summer and winter) and it's like the car knows how to get out of a dangerous situation. Maintenance is a no brainer since the car tells you when it's time for maintenance. My other car's body fell apart (rust) after 10 years, whereas my 12 year old BMW still has the show room feel. My maintenance invoices for my other car is about one foot thick while the BMW is one inch for the same time frame. Driving through mountain roads is an absolute pleasure - hardly need to use brakes since it holds the road like glue. Power is superb. I'm glad I didn't get a G35 coupe since my friend (who tried to convince me to get one since he bought one) is now complaining about it's overall quality (it's falling apart). I now own two BMWs and will continue buying them as long as their quality continues at this level.
Pros: The driver's seat cradles me like a race car!
Cons: some of the buttons are not in convenient places and the visors don't have extenders
Advice: buy it with satellite already installed, getting it installed later is like pulling teeth, no one knows which part to use!had to peel me out of the passenger seat the drive tore around hairpin turns and beyond jackrabbit starts, it was awesome! I'll probably never drive it that way but it is reassuring to know that it can handle fierce turnes and raging stops and starts!
Cons: Interior molding fell off twice; apparently a standard feature
Advice: Do not purchase this vehicleThe larger engine is the only way to go. Great engine. Terrible quality control on the rest of the vehicle. I have replaced the front bumper twice as a result of going over standard parking stanchions. BMW now has a disclaimer about this feature.
Advice: this is the car that everybody needsbomb
