134,100 Sedans Involved Due To Faulty Wiring
BMW has issued a recall this week for 134,100 5-Series sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model year due to faulty wiring in the taillights. According to the German automaker, a defect in the taillight wiring could increase the resistance of the electrical system and cause damage to the connections. This can result in the taillights not working which in turn could cause an accident.
BMW says the problem is showing up in about 15% of 5-Series built around 2008 to 2010. The German automaker also points out that no accidents or injuries have resulted from this issue.
BMW dealer's will replace the rear lamp bulb carriers at no charge. Owners will be notified about the recall next month.
