Quickest Bentley To Date
Bentley has pulled the covers off their most extreme vehicle yet, the Continental GT3-R. The model is inspired by Continental GT3 race car.
Like the GT3 race car, the GT3-R has been put on diet. There is extensive use of carbon fiber on the exterior, addition of a lighter titanium exhaust, and removal of the the back seats. These weight saving tricks have dropped 221 pounds to give the Continental GT3-R a curb weight of 4,839 pounds.
Under the hood is the turbocharged 4.0L V8 that been worked on by Bentley Motorsport to now produce 572 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, up 51 horsepower and 14 pound-feet than the GT V8 S. A eight-speed ZF transmission with shortened gearing and a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system with torque vectoring for the rear wheels finish up the powertrain. Bentley claims a 0-60 MPH of time of 3.6 seconds, which makes it the quickest Bentley model to date. A set of massive brakes comprised of carbon silicon carbide discs bring the model to a stop.
Outside, the GT3-R features a new carbon fiber front splitter, fixed rear wing, and a set of two vents on the hood. All will come finished in Glacier White paint with green accents and a set of twenty-one inch alloy wheels. Inside are bespoke sport seats clad in Alcantara and Beluga black leather. The steering wheel and gear shifter are wrapped in Alcantara.
Bentley says only 300 GT3-R models will be built. Production will begin late this year.
