2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Stars In SEMA Debut

It’s no surprise that one of the biggest stars of this year’s SEMA show is the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.  The C7 Corvette appears seemingly everywhere you look at the Las Vegas Convention Center, with a host of tuners using the sports car as their canvas.

Of course Chevrolet is also heavily promoting the Stingray, and several interesting models can be found at the brand’s extensive SEMA booth.  One of the more relaxed variations on the C7 theme is the Gran Turismo Corvette, a vehicle that reflects the tie-in between Chevrolet and the upcoming video game Gran Turismo 6 for the Sony Playstation.  The Gran Turismo Corvette is finished in an electric blue with yellow-highlighted headlights and decals advertising its digital roots.  The car also features a mild body kit, which makes use of carbon fiber as an added accent to the Stingray’s already menacing looks.

Chevrolet has also stoked a friendly rivalry between the East and West coasts with the Corvette Stingray Pacific and Corvette Stingray Atlantic concept cars.  Surprisingly – give the climate – the Corvette Stingray Atlantic is a convertible model.  Designed with cruising in mind, the Atlantic is equipped with an automatic transmission.  The Pacific is more performance-oriented, starting out with the Z51 Package’s host of go-fast upgrades.  Both cars dip extensively into the Chevrolet accessories catalog in the form of various aesthetic improvements.

It’s a little unusual to see Chevrolet not offering any ultra-high-performance editions of the Stingray at its SEMA booth, preferring to leave the blown-and-stroked-versions of its iconic coupe to the aftermarket to show off.  This could indicate that the Bowtie brand doesn’t want to steal any of the thunder from the upcoming Z07 model, or the next-generation of the Corvette ZR1.  Given the potency of the standard edition of the Corvette Stingray, it’s reasonable to expect that the Z07 will at the very least make some of the SEMA crowd more than a little jealous when it finally breaks cover.
