The E-Class is the worldwide butter in between the Mercedes-Benz bread. While the sedan gets the most action at the dealership, it’s the coupe and cabriolet that add flair to the stately E-Class branch of the Benz family tree. Now, for the 2014 model year, the stylish coupe and drop-top cabriolet have been given a nice nip-tuck makeover.
Sleek and aggressive are two words that immediately come to mind when staring at the refreshed 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. The face seems tighter and more drawn towards to rear of the car, which gives it a “fast-standing-still” vibe. Up front, the headlights are given partial LED lights are part of the standard equipment, but a full LED setup is available.
Around the side, the shoulder line runs in concert with the flat roof before terminating into the muscular rear section of the E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. Overall, the treatment works to add a bit of extra muscle into what we consider an otherwise stately machine.
Efficient power flows forth from beneath the long hood of the 2014 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. The base engine found on the E350 is a 3.5-liter V6, which produces 302 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. For more go, step up to the E550 and its twin-turbocharged 4.6-liter V8, and you’ll be rewarded with 402 horsepower nad 443 pound-feet of torque.
This power is turned efficient thanks to the standard ECO Start/Stop system. Additionally, it’s sent to the rear wheels by way of a seven-speed automatic gearbox. If you desire more traction, the E350 Coupe is offered with the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
It’s not all style with the new E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. Mercedes-Benz have provided a long list of new safety features and technology. Collision Prevention Assist, ECO Start/Stop, and Attention Assist 2.0 are now standard features. Items such as Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, Pre-Safe Brake with Pedestrian Detection, Active Lane Keeping, and a host of other bits of safety tech are also offered as optional extras.

There’s plenty of nifty safety features added to the new E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet, and that’s never a bad thing. On top of that, the refreshed style breathes a bit of new life into a design which, while not yet too old, is starting to become average. Average doesn’t work for Mercedes-Benz, and the 2014 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet is proof of that.
