The Dodge Journey has held a strong pricing position among midsize crossovers with its most base price coming in at just under $20,000. But the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad sits right in the middle of the line up and costs an addition $5,000 with its extras, sporty styling cues and standard 3-row seating. What this model speaks to is Dodge's motivation to make several variants of one of its most popular models to please a customer who wants a tougher, better looking and more capable CUV from Dodge.

What’s New for the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad:

The Dodge Journey Crossroad is going after a more performance exterior look with heftier fascia on the front and rear, platinum chrome side sills and 19-inch aluminum wheels with a five-spoke Hyper Black finish design. Inside, the third row comes standard as does the lack-leather seating accented by mesh inserts, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob and a "Liquid Graphite" treatment accenting the dash, gauges and doors.

Engine choices include a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 173 hp, 166 lb.-ft. of torque and 26 mpg highway or the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that makes 283 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque, but still gets 25 mpg highway. All-wheel drive is also available.

2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad: What Autobytel Thinks

Positioned between the SXT and the Limited models, the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad is a good value package for the buyer who wants a Journey with a darker, edgier look and more functionality - especially if they choose to add the all-wheel-drive and larger V6. Between the cost, looks and decent gas mileage, it's a trim with some strong appeal for midsize crossover shoppers.
