Sarah Burgess is a Brisbane, Australia native who has come to the United States to compete in the 2014 season of the Global RallyCross Series. Sarah was drawn to rallycross due to the sport’s competitiveness, and although it’s her rookie season, she has a lot of goals for 2014. She has experience with drifting, and has competed with a 750 horsepower Ford Mustang in drifting events, but the subjective nature of drifting, since it is a judged sport, has its drawbacks. Rallycross piqued Sarah’s interest because it’s more objective. As a self-described adrenaline junkie, Sarah loves the competitiveness of the GRC events. She races in a Chevy Sonic that puts out 650 horsepower, and is well equipped to handle all the different types of terrain and other obstacles on a typical rallycross course, such as dirt, asphalt, and various jumps. Sarah’s racing team is small, so she’s very hands-on when it comes to preparing and maintaining the car. She helps out in the shop, particularly with the electrical system and with fabrication. The team also handles its own public relations and marketing functions. Coming from Australia makes competing in the Global RallyCross more challenging,  but it also makes the entire experience more satisfying.
