Formula DRIFT is going global for 2014

The Formula DRIFT championship has been sliding sideways acros the United States for over a decade, and while previous seasons saw the sport travel around the globe, 2014 will see FormulaD stake its claim as the world leader in professional drifting. For those who may not know, the sport of drifting made its way to America over 15 years ago. In its infancy, the Japanese D1 Gran Prix series reigned supreme as the preeminent place to be if you were serious about getting your car sideways. However, in 2003, a pair of young, eager enthusiasts in Long Beach, CA took a gamble and gave birth to an ambitious four-stop series set mainly on America's west coast. Today, Formula DRIFT has made drifting the fastest growing motorsport in not only the US, but also the world. 2014 will see the guys from SoCal go global with three stops in Thailand, Japan and Australia for the Asia Championship, before adding both the Miami Homestead Speedway and an invitaitonal in Canada to the regular roster. So no matter what hemisphere you happen to be living in, now there is no excuse to go see one of these sideways smokey specatacles in person.
