Alejandro Fernandez has been racing for just two years, and most of that experience has been go karting. But now, Alejandro will be competing in the GRC Lite Series for the 2014 season, and he took some time to talk to Autobytel about his racing career so far, as well as his aspirations in motorsports. Alejandro didn’t discover rallying until he caught the sport on the X Games, and says it looked really, really fun. In November of 2013, Alejandro attended an event seeking out potential new junior rallycross competitors, and he was invited to join the program as one of the drivers. That event instantly got Alejandro hooked on rallycross, since it was just as much fun to drive in real life as it looked on TV. The Lite Series car is fun to drive because it handles especially well, and other drivers have told Alejandro that in some situations, it’s even faster than the car used in the Super Car Series. He hopes that after some valuable rallycross experience in the GRC Lite Series, he can move up to the GRC Super Car Series. Alejandro says his favorite things about being involved with Global RallyCross are the fast pace and the interaction with the fans. Unlike the WRC, the stadium setting provides a more exciting environment with more action.
