Steve Haas has worked in different aspects of the auto industry for more than 20 years. While an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, he was a “motor gopher” during the early days of Automobile Magazine… it was the best part time job he could have imagined and he remains shocked that they actually paid him to wash the cars. This started him on his automotive journey.
After school, he joined Saturn Corporation where he worked for nearly eight years, holding a number of positions in customer service, sales, and marketing, including some time helping to launch the EV1 electric car program in California. Alternative fuel vehicles and different technologies remain close to his heart.
After GM and some time in graduate school, he joined eBay where he was a part of the small team responsible for making the Motors category the automotive destination it became. He focused primarily on vehicles with a special focus on classic cars and individual sellers, though he worked extensively with dealers as well.
Mixed in has been time working for Mazda, a bit of time in Italy working for a certain automobile manufacturer based in Milan, some automotive retail experience, the automotive salvage industry, and judging at classic car shows… He's not sure there is a part of the process he hasn't experienced yet. He remains passionate about collector vehicles and helping consumers best navigate the car world.
