Pros: handling is great, but not in the rain
Cons: wipers shimmy, remote takes forever to lock/unlock, no center console
Advice: wait a few years and/or don't expect Audi to appropriately handle a declared lemon
I test drove this and bought it on a sunny day. In the rain, the wipers shimmy and the 2.0 slides on the road. They replaced the windshield, but it still happens; which makes it potentially unsafe. I wish I had gotten the quattro, but the 3.2 gets non-eco friendly mileage.Pros: The eagerly tuned engine and the handling
Cons: Optional extras are costly
Advice: A car you would have little regrets to own and will not want to part with
A very fine piece of engineering, thanks to Audi continous innovation. I drive a 2006 new TT 2.0FSi with 6-gear manual transmission. The sonorous whisper of the engine is fulfilling the second when you turn the key. The engine is eager and inviting to rev, and always giving the driver the impression there is more juice installed. Handling is excellent, feels like an Evo-stick tightly glued to the road on sharp corners and roundarounds, leaving other cars utterly amazed and other drivers oozing respect. A great head-turner with the revamped design, constantly mistaken of a Porsche 911 from afar. Braking can be harsh for the unaware first-time tester, a bit of getting used to. Overall a joy to drive, and not uncomfortable as a everyday car. I will be grinning from ear to ear every seconds I take it for a drive.
