I ordered the S4 in August 2003 and it arrived in november. Brilliant Red with black Napa leather. This car has some of the softest leather seats in the market. The interior is world class and nothing is this price range even comes close. The car handles great and it can tackle any kind of weather, which is a mayor plus during the rainy season. The car has been extremely reliable during its 6.5 years. I think this is the first car I will keep for ten years. In the past ten years I've owned several cars including Mercedes Benz, BMW, Acura, Lexus, VW and Infinity. My experience leads me to believe that Audi's are the best built luxury cars for the money. The Lexus LS 430 was reliable, but expensive to maintain and boring to drive. The Mercedes and the BMW had some reliability issues. The VW Touareg V8 has been an excellent SUV with only minor interior durability issues. The infinity has been reliable but its design was getting old quickly. Next year I will trade the VW Touareg for an Audi Q5. If you buy a used S4, make sure it has been well maintained (consult the service department) and you will enjoy it for many years.Pros: the experience of driving one, you kinda have to try it for yourself.
Cons: understeer
Advice: be sure to try it out on the freeway. thats where you realize why you spent all that money
The 05 audiS4 is most definitely a fun car. the power should be just as much as you could need. long drives on the freeway are incredibly comfortable for a car with that level of tune. problems...#1,clutch just went out last night. 9989mi. wasnt even beating it up.#2it is olmost impossible to get the back end to step out. in fact it will push the front end out before the back if it isnt manipulated just right. awesome daily driver though. makes you feel like everyone else is driving 'just another car' with the way it performs.Pros: 302lb-ft torque at 3200 RPM
Cons: no body kit option
Advice: This is a great sports car but at the same time a little practical with room for 4.
I've always wanted an S4. So this year I got myself one finally. This is my third Audi. The first one was A4 2.8, then A4 1.8T, and now S4 Cab with manual trans. I truly enjoy driving this car. The sound of the engine and the exhaust is great. The low-end torque at about 3200 RPM, you can definitely feel. The handling is definitely an Audi Quattro. It's an all-around fun and great car to drive! And with just a few hundred S4 Cabs out there in the country or around the world, it makes it even a better value, and even an actual investment with its market value in Las Vegas gone up already.Pros: Drop top and performance
Cons: no decent cup holders
Advice: get the sterring wheel audio control option
I loved the car right up to the point the clutch died at under 5000 mile. I had not driven the vehicle hard until that weekend and had the opportunity to try and test it out on a private runway and after runs up and back the clutch was gone. I never dumped it or slipped it just hard acceleration and it gave its life and had to cal in the roadside assistance crew. Out of town dealer says he had to 'put on boxing gloves' to get covered under the Audi Advantage warranty. I haven't picked the car up yet to get the details of the 'warranty Battle' but I have driven much greater and lessers cars (in price and performance) much harder and never had one fail. I'm not sure if this is an isolated incident or a flaw. Other than that the car is wonderful. Any others experience or comments would be helpful and appreciated.Pros: V8 torque
Cons: nothing yet
Advice: Find your price range and test drive and test drive some more.
I could not be more pleased with this car. I live in Canada and the quattro is superb. I have owned a 2003 M3, a great car, but not the low end torque that makes daily driving a pleasure. I wanted a classy looking car - I,ve had many compliments in this regard. The interior is a step up from the BMW. Hopefully the reliability will be better than Audis from the early 90's. So far I'm still smiling. Love that V8.
