2012 Audi A6: Video Road Test and Review

The Audi A6 is a four door five passenger full size luxury sedan that is offered with a choice of turbocharged four cylinder and supercharged V6 power plants that get as much as 33 MPG on the highway and can sprint to 60 MPH from a standstill in just over five seconds.  The German automaker offers the A6 in five trim levels: starting with the entry level 2.0T Premium and 2.0T Premium Plus as well as the more powerful 3.0T Premium, 3.0T Premium Plus and the top of the line 3.0T Prestige.

The A6 2.0T Premium is powered by a 2.0 Liter TFSI turbocharged four cylinder that cranks out 211 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque which gets an estimated 25 MPG around town and as much as 33 MPG at speed.  The $41,700 base A6 rides on a set of stylish 17 inch ten spoke alloys and is adorned with a pair of bright LED taillights on the outside.  While the interior is packed full of electronic creature comforts like Audi drive select, which allows the driver to choose between comfort, auto and dynamic driving modes depending on the road ahead; as well as three zone automatic climate control, eight way power adjustable front seats with lumbar adjustments for the driver with position memory and a multifunction steering wheel as well as Bluetooth wireless connectivity and keyless start.  The MMI Radio Plus and Audi Music Interface that incorporates an AM/FM/CD/MP3 stereo, all controlled via a 6.5 inch color display.  The base A6 also includes Audi’s Homelink remote transmitter that is more than just a garage door opener, but is also capable of controlling your home’s lighting and alarm systems as well.  Topped off with the obligatory Bluetooth wireless connectivity and a keyless starter.  The next step up is the Audi A6 2.0T Premium Plus, wearing a set of 18 inch five spoke shoes the Premium Plus is also upgraded with a pair xenon headlamps featuring the German automaker’s signature LED daytime running lights.  The $45,920 A6 comes with Audi MMI Navigation plus with voice control that works in conjunction with the Audi MMI touch handwriting recognition pad as well as parking system plus with front and rear sensors to save those plus sized rollers from curb damage everywhere.

The first of the more powerful A6 models is the 3.0T Premium, powered by a 3.0 Liter supercharged V6 producing 310 HP and 325 lb-ft of torque that is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 MPH in only 5.3 seconds while returning an estimated 19 MPG in the city and up to 28 MPG on the highway.  Being the entry level V6, the $49,900 3.0T Premium wears a set of 17 inch wheels and gets the standard halogen headlamps.  However on the inside, occupants can enjoy an Audi music interface with iPod and iPhone integration as well as the very convenient Homelink remote transmitter and Bluetooth as well.  Making the 3.0T Premium the most powerful and affordable model in the A6 lineup.  The next level up is the 3.0T Premium Plus; which gets back a few premium features.  The $54,120 A6 is upgraded with plus sized 18 inch rolling stock, the striking LED DTRLs, Audi MMI Navigation plus with voice control and touch handwriting recognition as well as Audi connect plus the radar parking system.  The top of the line A6 3.0T Prestige starts at $56,780 and gets all the trimmings, starting with Audi drive select, bespoke 18 inch split spoke alloys, four zone automatic climate control, power tilt and telescoping multifunction steering wheel with position memory, premium ventilated power adjustable front seats with memory, Audi advanced key and a Bose premium sound system all wrapped up in the sporty S line exterior trim.
