About the 2015 Audi A3:

After a short hiatus, the Audi A3 returns, initially as a 4-door sedan. A 5-door hatchback variant will also be available, equipped with a TDI turbo-diesel powertrain or Audi’s e-tron gas-electric hybrid system. The new 2015 A3 Sedan competes against the Acura ILX, Infiniti Q40, and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.

Model Lineup:

The 2015 Audi A3 Sedan is offered as the A3 1.8 TFSI with front-wheel drive and as the A3 2.0 TFSI with Quattro all-wheel drive. A 6-speed S-tronic automated manual gearbox is the only transmission available. Premium trim is standard, including leather seats, a 12-way power driver’s seat, a power panoramic sunroof, Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming, 17-inch aluminum wheels, and more.

Upgrade to the Premium Plus trim level for dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, keyless passive entry with push-button ignition, bigger 18-inch aluminum wheels, and more. The A3 Prestige models include sportier exterior styling, a navigation system, a premium 14-speaker audio system, Audi Connect services, and a set of LED headlights.

Optional Equipment:

Aside from trim package upgrades, highlights from the 2015 Audi A3’s option list include metallic paint, rear-seat side-impact airbags, and upgraded interior trim and lighting. A Sport Package includes paddle shifters, sport-bolstered front seats, and Audi Drive Select technology, while a Driver Assistance Package installs blind spot monitoring, front and rear parking assist sensors, and an Audi Parking System that helps the driver to steer into a parking space.

Additional upgrades include an adaptive cruise control system with stop-and-go capability, an Audi Pre-Sense Front pre-collision system, and an Audi Active Lane Assist system.

Engines and Transmissions:

The A3 1.8 TFSI is equipped with a turbocharged, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine that generates 170 horsepower and 200 lb.-ft. of torque. Torque peaks from 1,600 rpm to 4,000 rpm, and then horsepower peaks from 4,500 rpm to 6,000 rpm.

The A3 2.0 TFSI gets a more powerful turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine making 200 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. With this engine, torque is spread between 1,600 rpm and 4,400 rpm, and then horsepower kicks in from 4,500 rpm to 6,200 rpm.

Both engines are paired with a 6-speed S-tronic automated manual gearbox that upshifts on its own without the driver needing to push a clutch pedal. The A3 1.8 TFSI is front-wheel drive, while the A3 2.0 TFSI is all-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy Ratings:

Regardless of which version of the 2015 Audi A3 you select, you can expect to get 27 mpg in combined driving, according to the EPA.

Safety Ratings:

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 2015 Audi A3 receives a “Top Safety Pick” rating. When equipped with the optional Audi Pre-Sense Front technology, the A3 gets a “Top Safety Pick Plus” rating.
