2015 Audi A3 Leads Brand to Best-ever Monthly Sales Total

With the 2015 Audi A3 doing most of the heavy lifting, the Audi brand captured its 44th monthly sales record in August, when volume grew by 22.1 percent and reached 17,101 units. Also growing is the 2015 Audi A3 roster itself, which will welcome its newest member—the 2015 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron EV—to the team during the third quarter of the year.

Said Mark Del Rosso, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Audi of America: “Audi dealers nationwide are selling new models as quickly as they are delivered to showrooms—resulting in the best month ever in AoA history. By accelerating 2015 model introductions we are able to keep pace with this momentum to carry it through the end of 2014 and beyond.”

For example, along with new models for the 2015 Audi A3 range, the brand also recently expanded its team of premium crossovers with the new Audi Q3. Just entering dealerships at the end of August, the Q3 chipped in with 243 sales last month but should ramp up quickly if its bigger siblings are any indication: The Audi Q7 three-row entry remains the best-selling model in the brand's lineup, thanks to another 3,757 sales in August, while the Audi Q5 was one of the fastest-growing Audis last month; the two-row luxury crossover turned up the volume by 25.8 percent during the previous month, backed by 1,859 sales.

True, both the 2015 Audi A3 and Audi Allroad did lift sales by higher percentages, but the former only delivered 23 units in August 2013, so its 10,465 percent volume boost in the prior month comes with a large-sized grain of salt. And the latter measure marked 585 sales for what is more of a niche product for Audi.

Also providing a nice shot in the arm for Audi volume in August was the A4, as customers took delivery of 3,233 of them last month, representing a strong 15.3 percent gain.

For what it's worth, the Audi certified pre-owned program also brought in record sales in August, as its 4,733 units (+29.6 percent) were an all-time, single-month high for the brand.
