We have to give Aston Martin a round of applause. For almost a decade, the British sports car maker has been updating the almost decade-old Vantage with more power and improvements. Case in point is the latest model for the Vantage lineup, the Vantage S V12 Roadster.
The Vantage S V12 Roadster is the most powerful and fastest convertible in Aston Martin's lineup. Under the hood is a 6.0L V12 engine that produces 565 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. The 6.0L gets CNC-machined combustion chambers and hollow camshafts, and the removal of 44 pounds. This is paired up to a Sportshift III seven-speed sequential gearbox. Performance figures stand at 3.9 seconds for the run to 60 MPH and a top speed of 201 MPH. This is considerably faster than the Vanquish Volante which has stats of 4.1 seconds to 60 MPH and topping out at 183 MPH.
Other mechanical changes for the Vantage S V12 Roadster include a new suspension with three-stage adaptive damping, carbon ceramic brake discs, and a ZF Servotronic power assisted steering system.
Cosmetically, the Vantage S V12 Roadster receives a new front grille trimmed in carbon fiber with black or titanium silver mesh, more pronounced hood vents, and available graphics package. The interior gets new trim pieces and the option of carbon fiber seats.
"The V12 Vantage S Roadster is the mechanical embodiment of our company's exceptional spirit. Beautiful, powerful and spirited it is as spectacular to listen to as it is to look at. The new roadster is truly a treat for the senses with, underlying all this, the capacity to deliver one of the most dynamic, exciting and stirring driving experiences in our current range. I'm sure the V12 Vantage S Roadster will appeal to luxury sports car enthusiasts worldwide who want to add a truly exceptional new model to their garage," said Aston Martin Director of Design, Marek Reichman.
The V12 Vantage S Roadster goes on sale later this year.
