The latest generation of the Ford F-150 pickup is hitting the streets, and for the 2015 model year, Ford has introduced a whole bunch of changes and updates. Autobytel got the opportunity to take a close-up look at the new F-150, to see exactly what Ford is bringing to the table. Some of the most significant changes in this full size pickup are too subtle to be noticed by a casual observer, such as the composition of the new body panels, which rely on aluminum construction for its strength and light weight. This helps the 2015 F-150 improve fuel milage and become more efficient overall, thanks to a considerable weight loss, although the truck still retains its functionality and power. Benjamin Hunting, Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, also got some insider information about the F-150’s other updates, right from Ford’s testing facility in Dearborn. Underneath the aluminum panels is an updated steel frame, which offers plenty of strength and support. The frame features eight crossmembers, seven of which are steel, with a new aluminum crossmember added to the front of the truck. A new version of Ford’s EcoBoost engine, a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6, powers the new 2015 F-150.
