Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: all maintenance parts are designed for do-it-yourselfers
Cons: The AC control, it looks simple but is not logical in designThe initial quality was good but right now we are at 78000 miles and the car is falling apart, there are rattles everywhere. Our 1989 Accord LXI still runs like a tank, no rattles-nothing.
Pros: comfort/ handling
Cons: worrying about the trannyI've owned this car for 25,000 miles. (Bought it with 97,000) So far it's the best Honda product I've had. (It's the fifth one) There is a recall on the transmission in these cars and mine was replaced with a new one at 62,000 so far so good. It's great around town and on the highway. I get between 23 and 29 mpg on the required premium fuel even though it's the type S with 270 HP. Lots of power and great handling for this mid size sedan.
Pros: Automatic/Manual Transmission
Cons: Lack of Auto Headlights and No Auto-door locking features
Advice: Continue looking - too many annoying rattles and very poor customer service experienceGood acceleration and comfort features. Lack of auto headlights and automatically locking doors is unfortunate given the type and cost of the vehicle. Transmission was replaced at 21,000 miles - second gear problem, but interestingly vehicle VIN # not within the recall numbers? Does Acura/Honda have a bigger problem then they are owning up to?
Pros: Navigation and voice activation
Cons: Requires premium unleaded
Advice: Get Navi optionAcceleration and support suspension provide a sports car feel. Very quiet interier and many gadgets on the Navigation option. Voice commands work well 'CD play track 4' and 'XM channel 46' or 'Zoom' (for map) 'AC' etc. Leather seats are supple and comfortable.
Pros: Confort and Speed
Cons: Going in Reverse
Advice: Make sure you don't have to use it for parking in the cityThe feel of the car is of a Sports Car (not a Sedan) Is very agile! and very, very fast (just touching the gas, the car 'really goes!'
Pros: Auto-manual transmission
Cons: Garage door opener button is impossible to find in the dark.
Advice: Avoid cheap plastic Infiniti interior and overpriced BMW for this carI have the 3002 3.2 TL-S and love every aspect completely. I had a 1999 32. TL before and neither car has ever had any sort of squeak, rattle or defect. The quality and peformance for the money are unequaled. I also have a 1999 Audi A6 that has had numerous problems and repairs. Audi quality is woefully far behind Acura. The Audi also gets much worse gas mileage and lacks low-end torque. The Acura has 60 more horsepower and shows it readily. Acura quiet and driving comfort are unequaled. I absolutely love the way this car performs.
