Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Dip down passenger side mirror - SOOOO cute!
Cons: Bottoms out a bit. Also don't like the blind spot on the passenger side - caused by passenger mirror.
Advice: Only problem I've had has been that the passenger side airbag failed - Acura gave me a rental (another TL) and I was on my way without another thought. Good service!
I bought my 2002 TL in August - one of the first ones out of the chute. It has exceptional performance in all areas. Fill it with (High Octane) gas and it zooms - faster from 0-80 than most other comparably priced vehicles. Comfortable heated leather seats, seat memory and heated outside mirrors are a definite plus for the price. No other car it its class offers so many options - and remains in 'the class' for the price. You can't go any other way. I have the rear louver, visor, and bra...the car looks very sharp - I get compliments daily! I love it! You can't get more options for your buck.Pros: The cumulative quality of the car
Cons: The in rear window antenna's lack of reception power
Advice: You MUST seriously consider this vehicle before you buy anything else in its class!
I love the ride of this vehicle! I'm not a speed demon, but I love knowing I have all that horsepower and torque available whenever I feel the urge. I've seen and heard lots of reviews from car magazines, television auto programs and such, but I have gotten an extreme amount of complements about the looks of this car - even from people who were driving Lexus' and BMW's! Everything about this vehicle is choice! Resale value, maintenance costs, insurance costs - all these things are superior relative to other vehicles in its class Sure, you can find some faults with it (gas mileage isn't what was advertised, antenna placed in rear windshield lacks adequate reception power and the tires could/should definitely be wider) but overall, this is my first, and probably not my last, TL....P.S. and even not getting the Type S or Navi options doesn't diminish this vehicle in the least!Pros: Memory positions of seats and mirrors for two drivers.
Cons: Tilt wheel needs to tilt up more. Can't clean rear inside glass easily, esp. behind rear stoplight.
Advice: Check for 3 recalls about seat belts.
Handles very well. Accelerates easily with ample power. Accelerator is sensitive to foot pressure. Some wind noise with sunroof open at highway speeds.Pros: Power
Cons: Navigational system does not cover most areas. I should have purchased the Lexus
Advice: If you want a Navigational system purchase the Lexus or BMW. I am sorry I bought the Navi system
I purchased the Accura TL Type S a month ago. One of my main reasons for the purchase was the navagational system. That was a mistake. The navagation system is almost useless. Unless your destination is in the middled of New York City or Washington DC you will not find the address. I live just outside of Washington DC and when I want a location in the suburbs it is very rare that the address will be located. I went to New Jersey (Freehold area) and could not find a single location, could not even use cross streets. When I try to find golf courses in Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania I have been able to find one out of twenty. Almost all of the ones I could not find have been there for more than ten years so they are not new. When I compared the Accura system to the BMW, the BMW had every site I wanted. You see, BMW navagation system is broken down by area, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic etc. and therefore has much more detail. Accura covers the whole country. Well, I don't need Texas or California. On a BMW you can purchase the additional areas on DVDs for a couple of hundred dollars. In summary, if your reason to purchase is the navigation system don't buy the Accura. Barry Pershan clubs@adros.comPros: Navigational system
Cons: Small spare tire
Advice: Get an option with NAVI
Seats are very supportive and comfortable, Acura TL-s has a firm ride and very predictable and accurate steering. Super acceleration and Vehicle Stability Control is there for bad road conditions. All of it keeps you feel good and safe. Navigation system is easy and fun to use. This is a great car,Pros: Engine power and performance
Cons: Could use more head room (I am 6' 4')
Advice: Buy the Type S - For $2000 the performance is increased significantly
Great balance between engine performance and handling. The car is looks conservative but surprisingly fast and refined. You should buy the Type S, for $2000 the features are well worth it. Even with the Type S we are getting 22 MPG in the City and 30 MPG on the highway - not bad for a 260 HP sedan!
