2015 Hyundai Sonata Test Drive and Video Review

Hyundai’s Sonata mid-size sedan has been totally redesigned for the 2015 model year, which marks the seventh generation of this popular car. Hyundai’s design team focused on aerodynamics for this updated model, which requires a bit of a tradeoff. The exterior revisions might help the Sonata’s efficiency, but the car’s appearance is a little less stylish than the outgoing model. Despite the less exciting aesthetics, the 2015 Sonata still has plenty to offer. Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, Chris Wardlaw, spent some time with a new Sonata to explain why this car is such an excellent mid-size family sedan. Hyundai offers three different drivetrains for the 2015 Sonata. Autobytel’s test car came equipped with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder unit that produces 185 horsepower, which is the most common of the Sonata’s available setups. The engine is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. This combination is rated by the EPA for fuel economy of 25 MPG city, 37 MPG highway, which are some of the best figures in its class, although Autobytel’s numbers fell a bit short during testing. Other class-leading Sonata features include a thoughtful storage configuration, its crash test scores, and Hyundai’s warranty, all of which help make a compelling argument for the 2015 Sonata despite its bland looks. The 2015 Hyundai Sonata starts at $21,150.
