2014 Ford Fusion SE with EcoBoost Video Review

Ford’s Fusion sedan comes in a bunch of configurations, but the SE trim level is the car’s most popular offering. For the 2014 model year, the Fusion SE can be further optioned with a new 1.5-liter version of Ford’s turbocharged EcoBoost engine. Different EcoBoost engines can be found under the hood of many models in Ford’s lineup, and in the Fusion, it’s a fairly thrifty little 4-cylinder that still gets the car moving. Chris Wardlaw, Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, drove a Ford Fusion SE to see how the car reacted to the 1.5-liter EcoBoost’s 181 horsepower and 6-speed automatic transmission. It’s rated for 23 miles per gallon city and 36 miles per gallon highway, although Autobytel’s testing returned considerably lower numbers. And it’s easy to see why the SE trim helps sell more Fusions. It’s got an improved version of the MyFord Touch infotainment system, power adjustable seats, and plenty of other amenities. There are other options, though. A 2-liter version of the EcoBoost delivers a bit more power, and the Ford Fusion Hybrid model provides better fuel economy. However, the 1.5-liter EcoBoost is a solid compromise in terms of power and efficiency.
