General Motors has concentrated a lot of effort into making Buick a legitimate competitor in the luxury segment. The Buick Regal GS, which has been redesigned for the 2014 model year, is a great example of the brand’s capabilities, as demonstrated by its upscale equipment and features. The new Buick Regal GS is powered by a 2-liter, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 259 horsepower, and buyers can opt for an all-wheel-drive system. This makes the Buick Regal GS a solid competitor to German luxury sedans. The all-wheel-drive system, in particular, also makes the Regal GS super capable in inclement weather. To demonstrate the talents of the Regal GS, Buick invited Autobytel to the ICAR Winter Driving Complex in Quebec. Autobytel’s Road Test Editor, Benjamin Hunting, is no stranger to the roads in and around Montreal, so he was happy to challenge the 2014 Buick Regal GS on the icy and snowy course. The Regal GS is designed to adapt to road conditions by shifting all of the engine’s torque to either the front or the rear axle, based on the demands of the terrain. A magnetically controlled suspension system also aids the driver in such endeavors. The ICAR facility also features a skidpad and an autocross course, which the 2014 Buick Regal GS handled with ease.
