The Chevrolet Equinox is a compact crossover vehicle that provides a blend of affordability, comfort and style for families on the go.  The Chevrolet Equinox can seat up to five passengers, and it also provides enough cargo space with the second row of accommodations folded forward to haul up to 63.7 cubic feet of gear.  The Equinox features a standard safety equipment list that includes seat-mounted front side airbags, side curtain airbags, and forward airbags.  The crossover also offers electronic stability control, traction control, and the OnStar telematics system.

The base Chevrolet Equinox LS (MSRP $23,530) comes with air conditioning, a reclining rear seat that also slides for additional legroom, power windows and door locks, Bluetooth connectivity, a CD player, satellite radio and 17-inch wheels.  The Equinox 1LT (MSRP $25,050) upgrades to features such as a rearview camera, nicer cloth seats, a seven-inch touchscreen interface for the vehicle's stereo system, heated mirrors, tinted windows, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while the Equinox 2LT (MSRP $26,870) provides automatic climate control, heated seats, a louder stereo system, power adjustments for the driver's bucket, and fog lights.  The Equinox LTZ ($29,220) tops things off with leather upholstery, a power tailgate, parking assistance, and a memory feature for the driver's seat.

The Chevrolet Equinox boasts a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder as its standard engine.  Rated at 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque, this unit is shifted through a six-speed automatic transmission and returns fuel economy figures of 22-mpg city and 32-mpg highway.  A 3.0-liter V-6 is also available, and it ups output to 264 horses and 222 lb-ft of torque while dropping fuel mileage to 17-mpg around town and  24-mpg during highway cruising.  A six-speed automatic remains the tranny of choice with the V-6, and either motor can be ordered with the option of all-wheel drive.

A list of cars similar to the Equinox includes the 2013 Ford Escape, 2012 Toyota Rav4 and 2012 Honda CR-V.
