2003 Volvo S60 - 2.4T A FWD
Cons: mechanicals and exhaust tone (sounds like a buzz saw at times)
Advice: really look at what you are considering buying. Demand to have one for the weekend!!Have had my car just under 6000 miles and I am very unhappy. It has had numerous transmission issues, mostly just very jerky when it shifts in the low gears. Get it going and its great. A/C motor grunts and clatters when it comes on and steeing never seems to be in line. Meeting with Volvo tomorrow to see what we can do about this. Of course, the dealer says this is all normal!!
2004 Volvo XC90 - T6 SR AWD
Pros: Versatility and appearance
Cons: Wood on dashboard is a little weird
Advice: Buy itThis is the most excited I've been about a SUV in a long time. It's the perfect cross between luxury and utility. It has the good-looks of the BMW X-5 and the spaciousness that the X-5 lacks.
2002 Volvo S40 - Base
Pros: Quiet ride, seats, paint, trip computer
Cons: Rear seat is small as well as trunk opening
Advice: Buy it loaded with options, unless you need more rear seat roomThis is my 4th volvo. Previously owned 1991 740, 1994 940 and 1999 S70. This is the best one yet. Actual MPG is 26 City, 36 Highway. Seats are supportive and very comfortable. The car now has 7200 miles and never had a problem. It has the Premium Plus Sport Package which is very comprehensive. Driveability is excellent, with great visibility, low noise level, responsive handling ,and plenty of power. Body fit and finish is excellent with Volvo's great paint job. The radio/CD player and tape deck are easy to use and have wonderful sound. Everyone who rides in it are amazed at how smoothly and quietly it drives. No car can beat Volvo's leather seats for comfort and support. The only after market item I added was a radar dector with a compass.
2003 Volvo XC90 - AWD
Pros: Cargo space.
Cons: Lack of horsepower
Advice: Its not worth 40+K shop around for a better SUV.Its a hulk without the muscle. Takes a while to pickup from dead stop to 60. The dashboard is very poorly done, with lot of space taken for the cd changer. No space for sun glasses. Sun roof is way over your head and only back passenger can see it. The middle person in the back has no leg room space, unless you detach the front box underneath the arm rest. The only impressive part is the cargo space. Provided you take a course in how to fold all those seats. Over all bad experience with volvo.
2003 Volvo S60 - T5 M FWD
Pros: Super quick engine
Advice: Wait for good lease dealsOne of the best looking cars on the road. Looks like a hatchback but its a saloon. Should have a rear wiper because of shape of back window. The T5 is real fast and extremely comfortable. Maybe not a BMW 330 in absolute sports driving terms but better looking, and more value for the money. And best of all not as many on the road. Sound system is incredible and better than some of the branded systems in other cars. BOSE watch out! Back leg room is inadequate for adults but just fine for kids. Quality is what one would expect from a Scandanavian company. It's great...not a single, even minor problem in first six months. Better ride, comfort and quality than the last German car I owned.
2003 Volvo S60 - AWD
Pros: Automatic Sound Control (ASC) on radio
Cons: Rain Sensing wipers
Advice: This vehicle hardly gets the credit it deserves. Well worth the test drive.I leased this vehicle sight unseen as my employer arranged the deal for my use in business (I work out of my car and home). I have been very pleased with the S60's road manners and comfort. All my driving is highway, and it provides an excellent environment for highway cruising with superb sound system and quiet cabin, not to mention the everstanding safety Volvo is based on. I have the automatic 2.4 and it has plenty of power to get up and pass when needed. Over 1000 miles and very happy. I also like the fact there isn't one in everyone's driveway.
2003 Volvo S60 - AWD
Pros: Styling and appearance
Cons: Position of cruise control button on steering wheel
Advice: Go for the turboThe S60 AWD is great drive. Surprising power and pickup of the turbo. No problems merging into traffic on the freeways. It took a little while to get used to the large head rests, especially on the rear seats - these plus the side panel slightly block side view when looking to change lanes. Personally I thought that they could have put the cruise control activate button somewhere else, as it is placed where I normally hold the steering wheel and have accidentally deactivated the cruise control several times. It is a beautiful car - very happy with it. Purchased in July 2002.
