The Volkswagen Passat is a mid-sized four-door sedan. The SE trim line includes everything that comes on entry level S trim cars, including a multi-function steering wheel, trip computer, Bluetooth audio streaming, automatic headlights, and 6 airbags. The SE package adds 17” Sonoma wheels, heated seats with V-Tex leatherette and 8-way power driver's seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rear-view camera, and Premium VIII touchscreen sound system with HD Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio (with 3-month trial subscription). Passat SEs with the V6 also add a Fender Premium Audio System, 18” wheels, and a power tilting and sliding sunroof. For a little more money you can get a sunroof on other models too, with the SE with Sunroof package which includes the power sunroof (and 18” wheels on gasoline models). The next step up is the SE with Sunroof and Navigation trim line, which adds an RNS 315 touchscreen navigation system and keyless access with push-button start (and the 18” wheels for TDI models).

The Passat is available with a choice of four engines. Gasoline options include the base 170 HP 2.5l normally aspirated 5-cylinder engine, a 170 HP 1.8l TSI turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, or the top of the line 280HP normally aspirated 3.6l V6. A 140 HP 2.0l turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine is the final and most efficient option. V6 powered SE models come with a 6-speed DSG automatic. Other gasoline powered SE models come with a choice of 5-speed manual or 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmissions, while the diesel comes with a 6-speed manual. The SE with Sunroof and SE with Sunroof and Navigation models come only with the Tiptronic automatic on gasoline models and 6-speed DSG automatic on diesel vehicles.
