Advice: DO NOT BUY VOLKSWAGENBEWARE: this make/model is a lemon! I bought this car brand new, and have already dumped 4k into the car and at 35,000 miles have been told I now need a new engine because of oil sludge. For more info: myvwlemon.com

Advice: buy it you will love itthe most driver friendly auto I have ever owned.

Advice: Find the best price and enjoy the carGreat driving experience. Road handling +++. There are , Yes, electrical problems (power seat, mirrors foldings,AC,) But it's considered to be minor, it never stops you from driving. I have 60000 K in 3 years
Pros: Handling and performance
Cons: It is completely lacking in storage space!
Advice: Make sure you have an extended warrantyThe handling on this car is excellent. Highway driving is easy at any speed. It handles great in the city as well. The only complaint in this department is it seems to want to downshift quicker than it needs to at a stop. I have had this checked and was told nothing was wrong with the transmission, it just handles this way. The sunroof also leaked when we got a really hard rain, the drains clogged and had to be cleaned and the pads under the carpet replaced. High pollen content probably the cause of this I was told. I did have to have the front axle replaced at about 60,000 miles, warranty took care of of all this though. Overall, it is a good car.
Pros: a 3-way tie: 4MO handling , Monsoon sound, plush interior.
Cons: I'm thinking, I.'m thinking.
Advice: Look up not down or across for comparables.Looked long and hard at a 2002 A4. Loved it, but alas, no room in the back seat. Turned next to the A6, but Consumer Reports survey pooh-poohed reliabilty. Then discovered VW/GLX/4MO. Same 2.8 V6, same AWD transmission, plus rated more reliable by CR, more crashworthy by IIHS. Says I,why spend more for less? One ignition coil failure early on (?? not supposed to be a problem with the V6??) but smooth sailing for 20k miles since. As for the much criticized dealer service, delighted to say remains as yet barely tested.
