2009 Volkswagen Routan
stay away from the routon
Pros: brakes
Cons: the overall quality
Purchased a 2009 Routon S. By far, the worse vehicle ever owned. Will avoid VW and Chrysler forever more. Run away fast from this vehicle. Constant time in shop, window motors replaced, headlight took on water, service dept botched a transmission seal job, all within about 9 months. Sold vehicle. EXTREMELY BAD VEHICLE, as well as corporate VW-a useless company.- Recommend this vehicle to a friend? No

2009 Volkswagen Routan - SEL Premium
Pros: Wife like interior comfort. I like engine & handling.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Advice: Test drive with 4.o Liter & you'll love it.
After a year of family & cargo hauling we can report that our SEL Routan is a well built van. Good MPG and family frendly lay out. VW free maintaince is a comfort too. 4.0 Liter engine & 6 speed is a great combination for city or hwy. driving. We tested 3 other vans but chose Routan and have had a positive experience. We added back up sensors. -
2002 Volkswagen EuroVan - GLS
Pros: Table and rear facing seating for our kids and passengers, price $25,300 off the lot
Cons: gas mileage
Advice: 2003 is the last year for this vehicle, you will only be able to buy used from now on
We love our Van! Eurovans have a buying niche. We have experienced none of the problems the other fellow from St. Paul has had. Likes: Room, Seating options, table, bed, solid construction and quality build, VR6 201hp motor, unique look, 4 year bumper to bumper, price, option package is good but not complete, traction control, ESP, heated mirrors, 130mph on autobahn, visibility, saftey features, great traveling vehicle, dual climate control, traction control, smooth ride, 21 gallon tank Dislikes: Gas mileage, no TDI option, rear facing seats prevent leg room for tall front passengers(Euro version seats slide and turn), cheap dunlop tires wore out in 15k, can't pick and choose options, no luggage guard on rear bumper, no trip computer, no dvd option or power sliding door, low drive gear, 3000rpm @ 65mph -
2002 Volkswagen EuroVan - GLS
Pros: pop-up top
Cons: Quality is poor
Advice: I would avoid this vehicle
The test drive sold us but in time we realized that it was not enough to show the true quality of this vehicle. The features use the space well but after owning a new 2002 for five months I must sadly admit that I have never had a vehicle with so many squeaks and rattles that after three visits to the dealer have not been reversible. For instance, the side window squeaks with every bump, The inside of the door rattles as if little beads are bouncing around and have not been resolved, the drivers seat squeaks at the frame unless pressed up against the seat behind it, the AM radio does not work and when presented the dealer told me that 'Volkswagen AM radios have never worked very well and that the computer tests it as OK' even so you couldn't pick-up a station and my wife ended up using a transistor radio in the front to listen to her favorite station. As well, the dash rattles and new rattles seem to pop up consistently. At times when you start it under the car it sounds as if it is arching and the dealer has never heard of such a thing. We've already had two coils replaced on the engine and one seat belt. This would be the best van I have ever had if it would have only been manufactured/engineered with a bit more care. I would not recommend this vehicle unless quality is not an issue. -
2003 Volkswagen Eurovan - MV
Pros: The pop-up camper option for sleeping quarters or walking around.
Cons: Lack of glove box and position of gear shifter.
Advice: If you want extraordinary 'bus like' visibililty in a vehicle that rides like a car, buy this!
This is a great choice if you want to maximize your space, have a panoramic view, and engage in 'gentleman camping.' The engine is very responsive and 23 mpg hwy has been helpful given the premium fuel requirement. Road noise is higher than other minivans but alot quieter than camper vans or conversion vans. All told, the best blend of style and space we could find. -
