    2006 Volkswagen Jetta - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: Overall value

Cons: Front chrome grill if you want sporty look

Advice: I leased and I am very happy

My previous impression of VW was as a kid. The Beetle was considered a 'cheap' commuter car when money was an issue. I am startled at the quality, fit and finish, and value of the new VW's. My wife leased a 2006 Passat and we love it so much that I leased a 2006 Jetta 2.5 . Cabin is as upscale as vehicles $10-15,000 more. The way the trunk, doors, and glovebox open and close is a testiment to excellent engineering. Fantastic ride and comfort. Manual transmission is as smooth as my old Acura RSX type S. I love the look ( class with a touch of sport). This is our first personnal experiences with VW's and if this is the norm we'll be back at the end of our leases.

    2006 Volkswagen Jetta - 2.0T (M6)

Pros: 2.0 Turbo engine and DSG transmission

    Cons: Exterior looks

Advice: A great value in the $25K range

Just bought the Jetta 2.0T with Option package 1. This car is a great value all around for someone who wants a larger size compact with good to excellent performance, safety, and luxury features. The torque (acceleration) is great both from 0-60 and for passing on the freeway. The DSG transmission is seamless - you barely can tell when the gears shift - no turbo lag. I also appreciate the engine braking and overall quick throttle response. The ride is so good you easily find yourself going 25 mph over what you think you are going on the freeway - it is truly built for crusing at 100 mph on the autobahn. The interior features (dual climate controls, heated 12-way power leather seats, moonroof) are ergonomically excellent and what you would expect on a $35K car. The outside looks are bland but grow on you. The car rides a bit high and probably doesn't handle quite as well as a GLI. But believe me the handling and steering and braking are more than good enough for 95% of the people out there. Reliability remains to be seen. So far no problems exhibited but given VW's recent history I would recommend extended warranty just for peace of mind. Looked at Audi A3 but like the interior space on this one better - seems more roomy and has all of the same 'luxury' features. Same chassis, engine, transmission, for thousands less. Only negatives: center console intrudes a bit on the right leg (same as Audi), it can take a while to find the right seat position, and the rear visibility could be better. All in all I'm very pleased - especially for the money.

    2006 Volkswagen Jetta - TDI (EOP 38/06) (M5)

Pros: The comfortable leather seats and the 6 airbags

Cons: I love everything about this car!

Advice: try it you'll love it - the trunk is huge!

This is the best car I've ever owned. The fuel mileage is awsome. I'm getting an average of 45 mpg. Not bad at all. Great!

    2006 Volkswagen Jetta - GLI (M6)

    Pros: the interior and mfd

Cons: foglamp color, so i changed them to zenon to match headlights

Advice: just drive it and see, but do it at night, the instruments are sweet

This car is amazing! I test drove every car and this one is awesome. I have always had 3 series BMW's, but the new GLI for the price is way better. Your saving atleast 10 grand and getting all the same features, if not more. This car has the new Audi 2.0 turbo from the Audi A3 and the body of an Audi A4 with a different front end. It's a performer. It's like driving an aircraft. So many controls and computers. The turbo shows no lag in spooling up and to pass I usually dont even downshift. If you've ever had a Jetta in the past, this is nothing like it. All i can say is drive it yourself and read about all the options it has. Once you buy it like I did, read the manual and study it, you'll be very pleased. This VW is performance and luxury.

    2006 Volkswagen Jetta - 2.5 (M5)

    Pros: Security features

    Cons: nothing..so far

Advice: Test drive it and and you'll love it

I was between the Toyota Camry LE 2006 and the VW Jetta VE 2006. Finally after looking at all the features and having test driven both I went and got the Jetta. There's some many standard features even on the Value Edition that would have been a lot of extra $'s with the Camry. Plus, the security features on the Jetta are incredible. Very nice and smooth ride.

    2006 Volkswagen Jetta - GLI (M6)

    Pros: Paddle shifters

    Cons: taillights in back

    Advice: Seems a little pricy

I leased the GLI and just love it. The DSG is what we are talkin about, leather sport seats are sooooo comfy. The safety standards are A plus, my little 8-year old loves the back due to the vents she can control. Drive this car and you can see what I mean
