Cons: customer service
Advice: don't!!!!!!!!!!!!! buyI have had the worst trouble with this car and highly advise not to buy this car. I have had the engion worked on repeatly as well as a ton af small repairs and the windows keep falling into the door. the service dept is nice but cant seem to get the job done right the first time. As far as the main office they are a nightmare to deal with.I have had to get the bbb involved in order for something to be done. I will never ever own another vw and am telling everyone i can of my troubles.
Advice: Make sure you have a good service departmentMany problems with the vehicle. Including ignition coils (twice), arm rest, leaking sunroof (twice), anti-lock brake recall, cruise control recall, leaking oil pan gasket, replaced oil pump, windshield washer fluid hose, radio short circuit (twice). Car was bought new, has 39,000 miles on it.
Pros: looks great
Cons: new problems every other month
Advice: looks can be deceivingexcellent performance for its class. 200 hp v6 more than enough power for this little car. great looks. got lots of compliments from other motorists. chassis felt tight, but many little rattles everywhere. recalls. multiple problems with radio, windows, engine, speakers, and that darned vw shop in bayside nyc.
Pros: Heated seats, indigo blue interior lights
Cons: rattling doors, poor service
Advice: I wouldn't buy it again.I am currently looking to sell my VW Jetta. I should have done it long ago when I was taking it into the shop each month. Actually, I should have taken VW up on their offer to buy it back when they couldn't fix my 2001. Instead, I accepted a 2002 trade, thinking that maybe I would have better luck with it. Not so. I regret my VW choice.
Pros: instant acceleration
Cons: sort of small should be more distrinctive than other just plain cars
Advice: buy it the Turbo that isI love the 'rocket car' -- I have 30k miles on it. I would buy it again.
Pros: Ridiculously good fuel mileage
Advice: Use synthetic oil rated for diesels -- CH4 or higher. Not what the dealers typically put in.A very comfortable, yet reasonably firm ride. Similar to more expensive German performance sedans. Excellent fit and finish. Well featured.
Pros: Stereo system
Cons: Rear seat... no room
Advice: There have been problems with this model, make sure you take it for a test drive and find all the faults now. This is my second Jetta. My first was a used previously lease 1998 Jetta. I believe this will be my last Jetta. The styling attracted me to the Jetta, but there has been some problems. Here are some problem I've had with my present Jetta... blown internal fuse on radio, passenger door window would not roll up, engine down shift roughly from 2nd to 1st gear (automatic transmission, intermitten problem), cup holder rattles all the time, a lot of wind noise inside the car during highway speeds. Those are the some problems I've remembered, I'm sure I have more but can't remember.
