Cons: stiff ride, i need to get used to that
Advice: get a black onei bought a 2008 and i am not regretting it; everyone said i was crazy & that the GTI is too small - i was shocked how plush the interior is, and it is a ton roomier than i thought it would be. car is quick off of the line, and has great handling with the optional 18' wheels. my dealer is a let down, as i seem to have more knowledge about the car from internet research than the salesman does!
Advice: step up from japanese and pay the price difference they wouldn't regret it.there's a reason it's called the pocket rocket,if you're looking for performance, safety, and solid car feel definitely this is you're car. i own a 2002 model and once i drove it for the first time i knew i just had met my match.
Advice: get oneI love this car all you have to do is put a chip and a intake and you have your self over 200hp. Its fun to drive.......I can only say get one for your self!!!German for life!!!!!V-dub
Pros: take off
Cons: Extreamly high maintainance costs for schuded maintainances.
Advice: Insurance companies rate this as a sports car and charge to the max.Takes off fast an is nimble at high speeds. Less road noise than most and has a great sound system that I can't turn up past 1/4 volumn.
Pros: Tech/performance/style/features per dollar is unbeatable
Cons: Ride, even with 17inch wheels is on the hard side. Seats can be hard to get in and out of
Advice: Drive it on a rough road/city roads to assess if ride is 'doable' This car is a better 'country/suburban/backroad' car then city car due to the ride. This review is for the new 2006.5. I have only had the car about a month but can say that the combination of build quality, features, performance and just 'cool factor' are impossible to find in any other car at this price point. People compare this car to the Civic SI but I don't see how as the GTI is so much more sophisticated and 'adult'. The 6 disc changer in the dash, the sequential shift auto, I got the sunroof and XM package as well as the auto, AMAZING engine/tranny combo and faster 0-60 then manual! Ride is on the rough side as BMW spoiled me in the past but is bearable in light of the other great things about the car
Pros: EVERYTHING...especialy the VR6
Cons: maintenance costs
Advice: buy yourself a GTIThis car is almost perfect.. from its interior fit and finish, comfort, styling, and incredible power from the VR6 engine. The car is already at 47k miles and i haven't had a single problem yet. I'm not sure why others have been experiencing so many problems with their VWs, my brother owns an '02 Jetta VR6 and is also as reiable as mine! I've added aftermarket suspension (H&R coilovers) and it makes the car handle even better then it did when it was stock. Overall performance can't be beaten by any car in its class. It's truly an outstanding car, just like the past 5 VWs we've owned.
Cons: Need for Prem. fuel..one interior color choice
Advice: If you want fun and quick response..Buy GTIquick, goodlooking head turner. Steady at high speeds.Little turbo lag. Very nice trans and refined engine.Very good visibility. ride is not a floater but then it is not a land yaught.very tight nicely weighted steering. Unlike many in it's class you have good headroom front and rear. ALL buttons illuminated.Built in XM is cool.Good fit and finish inside and out.Very cool Xennon headlamps
