2004 Volvo XC90 - FWD
Pros: Safe construction of the body
Cons: Traction and stopping
Advice: Change the tires immediatelyThe stopping and traction on this vehicle are the scariest of any car I have ever owned. The ABS is so senstive that if come on when not needed and does not stop the car in a decent fashion. With a couple of inches of snow the car will spin out at every corner. It reminds me of the rear wheel cars we used to have. It does not track well. This year I will replace the Michelin tires with proper snow tires to try and improve performance.
2005 Volvo XC90 - T6 SR AWD
Pros: rear door opens in mtwo parts
Cons: there are many
Advice: ck out bmw or benzNot happy at all. Windshield wipers allow for ice buildup. Windshield wiper fluid freezes quickly. Headlight fluid releases all over the hood. Sideview mirrors not automatic once car is off (should have allowance time like windows.)Cup holder in rear is not secure enough and cups fall and spill. Rear passenger windows not child safety proof. Driver seatbelt locks while slowly leaning folder to check blind spot. Shallow door pockets. No sunglass holder or change holder. Navigation system is lousy.
2005 Volvo XC90 - V8 SR AWD
Pros: engine and style
Cons: wheel options
Advice: drive this last after you have tested other suvs in this catagory.Great truck, the v8 and 6 speed transmission make all the difference in the world. Now someone interested in performace can buy an XC90 with suffering with the T6 engine and transmission. Lots of fun to drive.
2005 Volvo XC90 - FWD
Pros: Exterior Style; Interior Luxury
Cons: Hmmm, wish it were $4000 less.
Advice: Test drive it and see for yourself. My wife and I love the vehicle. We have had it for one month now and what a joy to drive. The 2.5T has plenty of power, personally I don't buy an SUV to go from 0-60 in 6 seconds. Mileage has been spot on with the sticker (18/23).
2005 Volvo XC90 - 2.5T AWD
Pros: Interior amenities
Cons: Sluggish handling at low speeds
Advice: Buy the 2.5T instead of the T6. Use Costco for better pricing than dealer pricing.I've had the car for 2 weeks and am very glad I chose it over the MDX. The interior is as comfortable as the BMW X5 with more room and a few more bells and whistles. It handles a little heavy at low speeds but is a gem on the highway. You get used to the weight quickly. 5 cylinder has plenty of pickup and better transmission than T6, and from other reviews sounds like the T5 has fewer maintenance issues. I have had none of the visibility or mileage problems others have posted, and I really love the luxury, power, and utility of this car. It's incredibly quiet and feels solidly built. I had one problem with the navigation system that was resolved by the dealer in a few hours.
2005 Volvo XC90 - 2.5T AWD
Pros: Navigation system.
Cons: Visibility takes a little getting used to in the front.
Advice: Stop thinking about it and get it.Great Choice! Picked up the car the day we had 15' of snow and it exceeded expectations. NO problem handling snow banks and absolutely no loss of traction. Milage has been better than other reviews mentioned and right about sticker statement. The car is etremely quiet in all driving conditions. I could not be more pleased. The service is top notch and all routine maintenance included for 1st three years!
2003 Volvo XC90 - FWD FWD
Pros: Park assist
Cons: limited vision backing
Advice: Good if you need the third row of seats and a midsized SUV.Excellent comfort and handling for a SUV. Got the T5 so I knew it was not going to have outstanding performance, but the mileage mirror's EPA ratings (18-24) which is good. Purchased through overseas delivery which was great. Highly recommend that if it fits with your plans. Two free plane tickets to Europe and eight percent off list.
