    2002 Volkswagen Golf - GLS 2.0L (M5) 4dr

Pros: The look and the quality interior and sound system

Cons: The power. I think the performance of the engine grows on you as the engine ages. You have to give it time to break-in and not give-up after a few thousand miles of less poweful starts which is fustrating to some. (Applicable to stick drive)

Advice: Pick a color that you REALLY like and order it if they don't have it in stock. Choose the alternative to the beige velour. The other material available

Ok...this is a great car despite it's cons that others have mentioned. As for the pros there are LOTS! The standards that you get with this car are non-standard with other similar sized cars. The interior is GREAT! Typical German standards, not the plasticky toy-looking interior. You can tell the QUALITY!! As for the gas mileage...I have NOTHING to complain about. I would say that this is a great car for dog-lovers like myself, as you can easily fit in a 80lbs pup with enough space

2002 Volkswagen Passat - GLS (M5) FWD Sedan

    Pros: looks

Cons: manual seat adjustment can be time consuming until you get it just right

Advice: Buy this car..you wont find one better for the price.

Extremely smooth and powerful acceleration. I was going 80 before I realized it. I found it very quiet inside while driving, contrary to the professional review. Great car! Great features come standard whereas you have to pay for them in other cars out there.

    2002 Volkswagen Golf - GL TDI (M5) 4dr

    Pros: Heated seats

Cons: Interior color (black shows everything) & cloth used on the seats. Very hard to slide in and out of the car.

Advice: Do not buy this car if you plan on having people ride in the rear seats. Very cramped space for a person. This is the perfect car for a single person.

Drives excellently. Especially steady ride for such a small car. On the highway does not get blown around by the trucks. It just zips along. Fabulous fuel mileage. Keeps getting better with every fill up. I'm at 48.7 miles per gallon at present time.

    2002 Volkswagen GTI - L (M5)

    Pros: The way it drives!

Cons: If I'm outside the vehicle I have to use the remote entry to access the rear hatch.

Advice: This vehicle matched my requirements plus it is a great pleasure to drive. You should give it a serious test drive. My adult daughter offered that this was a 'young man's car' but this old guy loves it anyway.

I've had this car 1 month and it is a total blast! Tremendous acceleration and handling that compares very favorably with my SLK 230 and at less then half the price. I would recommend the 17' wheels both from an appearance and performance perspective. The Monsoon sound system is outstanding. The ride is quiet, very responsive, and I always have a feeling that the vehicle is firmly planted. This vehicle replaced my old Explorer and my original intention was to go with a small SUV. The GTI has more then enough cargo capacity and with the front wheel drive, I can handle most of the snow conditions I'm willing to drive in. In addition, I get better gas mileage then a mini-SUV with the added benefit of enjoying a 'pocket rocket's' attributes. I got all the options except the leather seats but that was a personal preference. Even loaded, the GTI was thousands less then a comparably equipped 4X2 Escape. I owned and enjoyed a VW Rabbit in 1977 and that car was why I considered a Golf/GTI. If my old Rabbit was the Clark Kent version, my GTI is definitely the Superman version and I'm really glad I've returned to the VW family.

    2002 Volkswagen New Beetle - GLS (M5)

    Pros: Heated Seats

Cons: No door lock on passagner side

Advice: great little car, good mileage. Light in back on snow.(Keep full tank of gas, for weight)

I have owned my Bug for 18 months. This winter I had two different accidents. The first accident a deer ran into the drivers door. The deer broke off my door handle, this caused me to be locked out of my car when I got out to inspect the damage. Reason being the doors lock when you drive a certin speed. You need to have the doors unlock when the car stops, or put a key entry on passagner side. My purse and cell phone were inside the car, and I had left the car running when I got out. My husband came with the valet key but we still could not get in. 2nd accident: I rolled my Bug over in the snow 4 times, Witnesses said I rolled very easy but caused NO damage as I rolled like a cue ball, drove car home afterwards and have drove it for a month since. Deer accident did more damage than roll over. Police said reason for no damage was the shape of the car.

    2002 Volkswagen GTI - L (M5)

    Pros: 1.8 L Turbo engine.

    Cons: Back seat access.

Advice: Get the luxury package and 17 inch wheels.

The 1.8 L Turbo has some get up and go. I purchased mine from the largest volume VW dealer in the US. It's a great car to say the least. Leather, sunroof, monsoon 200 watt radio with 8 speakers, sports suspension with 17 inch wheels. If you want a car that's sporty, quick and economical, you can't go wrong here. Once the turbo winds up, this car moves. It's quicker than the 2001 and 1st generation 2002 VR6 until the 200 hp model comes out later this month, but with better gas mileage. Sporty with some class to boot.

2002 Volkswagen Passat - GLS (M5) FWD Wagon

Pros: Quality of fit and finish

Cons: Limited availability of 1.8T wagons

Advice: Get the 1.8T GLS, 6 cylinder is a waste of money and gas

I have been a Toyota owner for the past twenty years. If there is one European car company that can give Toyota,Honda,Nissan a run for their money it is Volkswagen. It is one the finest automobiles I have every owned
