Pros: Mileage is good, handles well in bad weather
Cons: Dealing with repair/waranty issues with dealership and VW
Advice: DO NOT BUY THIS UNTIL THEY RESOLVE THE GAS TANK ISSUE!!!!!I've only had my Passat for 2 months and last week when driving on the highway the other day I heard something in the back end of the vehicle. When I got to my destination, I smelled gas and noticed a trickling of gas from the bottom of the vehicle and immediately took it to the dealer where I bought the vehicle. Within 10 minutes they said it was not covered by waranty. I've met with the service manager, the general manager and the after sales regional manager who all said that they would not cover this. I even showed them a copy of the story on the internet about faulty designs in other vehicles being investigated by the NHTSA and they just did not care to see it. The gash in my gas tank was in the front of the tank and as a result of this part being exposed to oncoming debris, although they disagree with me. I feel this is a cover-up and they do not want a recall on their hands....I have vowed to make sure they do not get away with this. Just hope that someone does not die as a result of this issue....
Pros: interior design
Cons: Dependability... if you want a dependable car, this is not it!!!!!!!!!!
Advice: DO NOT BUY VOLKSWAGENBEWARE: this make/model is a lemon! I bought this car brand new, and have already dumped 4k into the car and at 35,000 miles have been told I now need a new engine because of oil sludge. For more info: myvwlemon.com
Pros: 6 disc CD/MP3 In-Dash Player with Sirius Satellite Radio
Cons: Anti-distortion feature on the radio. I cant BLAST it...
Advice: If you like German cars, be prepared to fall in love with the PassatI just bought the 2.0T after trading in my Golf. This car is GREAT. I drove both the 3.6 and the 2.0T, but the 80hp difference didnt warrant the extra 5 grand to me. Both versions are nice for sure though, but having the 115hp golf Prior to the 200hp Passat, the step up was more than enough for me.
Pros: Tire pressure warning
Cons: VW cutomer relations treatment toward a customer.
Advice: DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM VOLKSWAGENIt was a smooth ride at first, but give it some time and it will change.
Pros: Engine. Transmission. Dynaudio. 17 in wheels. Trunk & folded back seats.
Cons: Partially powered driver seat. Fog light, dimmer mirror, and other things are not available for 2.0T.
Advice: Go test drive it. If finance allow, get 3.6 and all options. You will have the best for less.Wonderful car. I have 2.0T with all available options. It comes out a affordable luxury car. Very smooth, quick, and quiet car. I have mixed city/high-way driving. The average mileage is 26.5 mpg for the first 1000 miles. For high way only, it could get 33 mpg. It's great.
Pros: The power-Tiptronic-Dynasound-Smooth drive-The onboard computer
Cons: No complaints
Advice: Consider this--if you do not care for the BMW/Mercedes name--this is as goodConsidered a 2.0. landed up buying the 3.6 Luxury Sports package. Beats BMW and other German makes. What a phenomenal car - immense power, smooth drive, very nice interiors. The alum grill on sports package and the rest of the dashboard is classy. Great substiture for a sports car --super handling.
Pros: Dynaudio sound system, Incredible!!!
Cons: can't think of one thing
Advice: purchase Consumer Reports buying guide. Then purchase on internet. Most dealerships have internet sales departments. We paid $200. over dealer invoice.Amazing! Sleek, Quiet, Responsive, Tight cornering.
