2002 Volkswagen Passat - GLS (M5) FWD Sedan

    Pros: looks

Cons: manual seat adjustment can be time consuming until you get it just right

Advice: Buy this car..you wont find one better for the price.

Extremely smooth and powerful acceleration. I was going 80 before I realized it. I found it very quiet inside while driving, contrary to the professional review. Great car! Great features come standard whereas you have to pay for them in other cars out there.

2002 Volkswagen Passat - GLS (M5) FWD Wagon

Pros: Quality of fit and finish

Cons: Limited availability of 1.8T wagons

Advice: Get the 1.8T GLS, 6 cylinder is a waste of money and gas

2002 Volkswagen Passat - GLS (M5) FWD Sedan

Pros: heated leather seats, the backseat folds to double trunk space

Cons: I do'nt know you tell me

Advice: buy the 1.8T plenty of power if do not pull a trailor get the full package

We bought our Passat in November 2001 with all the options. The response is awsome. No trouble. The dealer's mechanic told us to use 87 octane especially in cold weather. We switch between regular & super no trouble. My wife likes the automatic and I use the Triptonic on ocasion. All in all a sports car with limousine features at a reasonable price.

2002 Volkswagen Passat - GLX (M5) FWD Sedan

    Pros: Handling

    Cons: price for up keep

    Advice: get a standard!

I have had my Passat for 2 years now. I have absolutely no complaints. The acceleration and the handling are that of a sports car. I purchased a standard and from what I have found out about the automatics, it was definitely to my advantage. I would recommend this car to anyone young and old.

2002 Volkswagen Passat - GLS (M5) FWD Sedan

    Pros: Handling

Cons: Interior seat & door material quality

Advice: Get the leather & the Monsoon sound system. I'm sorry I didn't.

Mechanically, a great car. No problems after 7 months...but did you ever try to CLEAN those velour SEATS??? It's IMPOSSIBLE!!! I've spent more money on fancy brushes designed to clean this material, but to no avail. And the best part...my dealer recommends DUCT TAPE, as they can't find anything to clean it either!!! Frankly, it makes me so mad, I most definitely would NOT have purchased this car if I knew this. My wife bought me a huge roll of EXTRA WIDE DUCT TAPE for Christmas!!!

2002 Volkswagen Passat - GLS (M5) FWD Sedan

    Pros: Very quiet cabin

    Cons: Body roll

Advice: Buy it in base model and put some 16 or 17 inch perfromance wheels on it.

The interior is awesome. Not cheap at all, very Audi looking. The violet dash lights enchant me everytime I use the car at night. Plenty of room in the car. The brakes require very little effort and the abs stops straight. The automatic shift is a little sluggish. I prefer the tiptronic mode, to get the extra power quickly. The Monsoon stereo is awesome. The gas mileage is very good considering it uses premium fuel. The suspension needs some stiffing. It leans alittle to much. This might be from the soft sidewall Michelins, 195-65-15.
