Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Accelration, sound system, versitility
Cons: Storage, seats
Advice: Not as hard to find as you may think - negoiate down to costExcellent overall vehicle - didn't see much difference in the V6 (not worth the extra $$). Needs some work in storage compartment between front seats (too small!). Also, seat bottoms could be a bit wider (a little uncomfortable).
Pros: Dash board and speed.
Advice: Test it out, bargain. buy it, don't do the lease.I purchased my 1.8 about a week ago and love it. Quiet and great pickup. I've owned several cars but this one is the best by far. I like the ride and the speed.
Cons: manual seat adjustment can be time consuming until you get it just right
Advice: Buy this car..you wont find one better for the price.Extremely smooth and powerful acceleration. I was going 80 before I realized it. I found it very quiet inside while driving, contrary to the professional review. Great car! Great features come standard whereas you have to pay for them in other cars out there.
Pros: Quality of fit and finish
Cons: Limited availability of 1.8T wagons
Advice: Get the 1.8T GLS, 6 cylinder is a waste of money and gasI have been a Toyota owner for the past twenty years. If there is one European car company that can give Toyota,Honda,Nissan a run for their money it is Volkswagen. It is one the finest automobiles I have every owned
Pros: heated leather seats, the backseat folds to double trunk space
Cons: I do'nt know you tell me
Advice: buy the 1.8T plenty of power if do not pull a trailor get the full packageWe bought our Passat in November 2001 with all the options. The response is awsome. No trouble. The dealer's mechanic told us to use 87 octane especially in cold weather. We switch between regular & super no trouble. My wife likes the automatic and I use the Triptonic on ocasion. All in all a sports car with limousine features at a reasonable price.
Cons: Premium fuel requirement
Advice: Compare to other like foreign makes and VW will impress. Can't beat features or performance for the money. Love my Passat
Cons: price for up keep
Advice: get a standard!I have had my Passat for 2 years now. I have absolutely no complaints. The acceleration and the handling are that of a sports car. I purchased a standard and from what I have found out about the automatics, it was definitely to my advantage. I would recommend this car to anyone young and old.
