    2002 Volkswagen New Beetle - GLS (M5)

    Pros: appearance

    Cons: the quality

Advice: make sure you inspect the warranty and are prepared to pay a lot for repairs.

I have a 2000 new beetle that i bought new. My car now has 38,000 miles on it and i've had it for a little over 2 years. So far, I've had over $1,000 in repairs. The warranty is only for 12 months and shortly after that every little thing started breaking. The window knob broke off, the mirror knob broke off, the oxygen filter was recalled, the emissions control thing went bad. Also, just for reference, you have to take the car to the shop to get a headlight changed and they charge you $70. It's ridiculous. I'm now in the process of selling my car.

    2002 Volkswagen New Beetle - GLS L Turbo (M5)

    Pros: Almost *everything* about it.

Cons: Size of cupholders, lack of place to put toll booth money.

Advice: Plan ahead. If you frequently have lots of people in your car, the bug definately isn't for you.

The 02 New Beetle GLS1.8T is my first car, which I recently got for my 16th birthday. While I have only had the car for 3 weeks, so far, it's been a great car to drive. It has great visibility, it is surprisingly fast, has more than enough room, and overall, is just an excellent car. My only complaint are the cupholders, which are too small, there is no space to put change for toll booths, and the backseat is rather small if you plan on having passengers. I luuuuuuuuv my vw bug! 3

    2002 Volkswagen New Beetle - GLS (M5)

    Pros: Sunroof, stereo

Cons: If I HAD to come up with one thing it would be the cup holder.

Advice: Allow yourself to test drive this car before you make a final decision on the purchase of a new car.

I really liked the appearance of the Jettas and was intending on purchaing that. However, once I drove the Beetle the Jetta couldn't compete. It was just a much better driving car.

2002 Volkswagen New Beetle - GLS TDI (M5)

    Pros: comfortable seats

Cons: gas mileage and blind spots

Advice: if you're buying the diesle for gas mileage - DON'T - mileage stinks

I went with the diesle engine thinking i would be getting good gas mileage. i'm barely getting 30 mpg - a far cry from 42-49 mpg that is quoted. the car is very comfortable with plenty of head room, however there is not much trunk space.

    2002 Volkswagen New Beetle - GLS (M5)

    Pros: Heated Seats

Cons: No door lock on passagner side

Advice: great little car, good mileage. Light in back on snow.(Keep full tank of gas, for weight)

I have owned my Bug for 18 months. This winter I had two different accidents. The first accident a deer ran into the drivers door. The deer broke off my door handle, this caused me to be locked out of my car when I got out to inspect the damage. Reason being the doors lock when you drive a certin speed. You need to have the doors unlock when the car stops, or put a key entry on passagner side. My purse and cell phone were inside the car, and I had left the car running when I got out. My husband came with the valet key but we still could not get in. 2nd accident: I rolled my Bug over in the snow 4 times, Witnesses said I rolled very easy but caused NO damage as I rolled like a cue ball, drove car home afterwards and have drove it for a month since. Deer accident did more damage than roll over. Police said reason for no damage was the shape of the car.

2002 Volkswagen New Beetle - GLS TDI (M5)

Pros: power of the TDI, power sunroof, and most of all, heated seats in winter!

Cons: Have an 18 month old daughter, hard to use car seat in back, also the cup holders. The only oops in the car! Flower vase is plain, you can buy good looking aftermarket ones on the web.

Advice: This is the perfect car for someone single or couple. Great roadtrip car. Test drive and you WILL be sold! I promise.

I was first hesitant about size of vehicle cause I am a big guy. My test drive threw that out the window. Very comfortable, plenty of headroom for driver and passenger.Blown away with the power this car has. You will not be stuck behind semi's on hills with this gem!Gas milage is a bonus treat! 45 mpg on my automatic!
