Small but Zippy
Pros: Small car but very roomy in car and trunk.
Cons: Placement of the console; wish I could rest my arm. After driving Cadillacs for the past 8 years, I found myself in a position that I needed to downsize. Thinking I had paid my dues in driving small cars in my younger years, this was a very hard transition with a pleasant surprise. The Volkswagen Jetta not only has a European appeal it has a lot of pep! I feel safe and do not have to hesitate pulling out for a quick turn. I don't get a small car feeling. There is ample room in the car and the trunk. It is good looking and has just a little different style than all the others it's size. I bought used and looked for months to find the right deal. I never buy new anymore; just be careful that you buy from a reputable dealership. I am very pleased with this little powerhorse; didn't think I would ever drive a smaller car again. Also, I asked a very good mechanic what he thought before I bought and if he could service it for me and keep it out of the dealership. Insurance is reasonable and so is the licensing. Good luck with your decision.
Jetta TDI is a great green car
Pros: fuel economyIgnoring the fact that mine is white, my 2009 Jetta delivers 2X the fuel economy of the usual gas car at a real 38 mpg around town. It rides well, at 16K miles I've had no difficulties and I am well satisfied.
Jetta TDI Sports Wagon
Pros: BMW like ride
Cons: lights stay on after you shut off ignitionExcellent diesel with lots of power
Economy with reasonable performance
Pros: Fuel economy
Cons: would have liked steering wheel acessory controlsMy VW Jetta Sportwagen is a very comfortable, reliable, responsive car with remarkable fuel economy. Being able to carry a pile of stuff is a definite extra and still deliver between 35 and 38 mpg in around town driving is a great combination. The glass roof and DSG transmission are enjoyable pluses. At 16K miles it has worked flawlessly and cost me nothing for repairs or maintenance.
What a Great Car!
Pros: Combination of DSG trans and torque curve (236ft lbs)VW Jetta TDI (direct injection turbo diesel) with DSG (auto manual transmission) is such a fun and sporty econobox. Rides, handles and brakes like a much sportier car. Once you learn to 'ride' the torque curve when accelerating, a stop light drag race is yours. The trunk is huge for a small car and the back seats fold down for even more room. 30+ mpg around town and so far my best trip mileage is 49.3 mpg!
Jetta TDI Stealth Economy Car
Cons: brakesThe Jetta TDI performs better than any other economy car period. The torque that the 1.9 liter turbo diesel motor develops is astounding and the 6 speed automatic is the perfect tool to transfer power to the wheels. There is a standard CD/Satellite/AM/FM stereo system with 10 speakers that sounds like a high end aftermarket system. In all a sweet ride.
Pros: Diesel Engine
Cons: Bouncing Ride on Most Roads, I personally don't think suspension is set up right, even with the short wheelbase.Great MPG with the Diesel Engine. Slight wind noise, water leak right rear window, other than that, really good vechicle. But be careful of side blind spots, when changing lanes.
