Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: The V6 has real guts with good gas mileage to boot.
Cons: The SEATS
Advice: Toyota dealers say this is hot model and do not want to discount. However, they do not want you to walk away. Use your best negotiating skills and you will get the deal you want. This is a true SUV. More truck than a car. I think they tried to design it so you can really feel the road. Even the seats have less cushioning than other SUVs. The ride is superior however. Considering the one piece rear axle, I expected more problems with road bumps. The overall configuration is ideal for me because I tow a boat and put in at some inhopitable places. The 245 HP V6 is plenty of power and torque for this task.
Pros: Skid control and full time four wheel drive.
Cons: I had to order the navigation system. A 3 month wait.
Advice: Don't waste your time looking at other sport utilties. This is the one.Quite simply, the best sport utility I have ever driven. I had a 2000 4Runner, and even though the previous generation truck was the best I had ever owned, this is better. Much better. From the fit and finish, to the performance, to the sound system. A++++
Pros: The leather seating is rich, plush and super comfortable
Cons: Wish it had the option to add a CD movie player for passengers
Advice: Negotiate between 3 or more dealers and go back to each oneWOW What a vehicle. It is big but handles as if it were a sports car (except for sharp turns) and it is packed with useful features and not a lot of hoohey, like navigation which is an expensive add on with little practical application.
Advice: buy itride is smooth, comfortable to drive, excellent passing speed, love it.
Pros: Quiet operation
Cons: Limited headroom with sunroof
Advice: Compare the resale values on 4-year-old Ford, Chevy, and Toyota SUVs. When I did, I was shocked at the difference.I've found the Limited with an exceptionally quiet engine and ride. With its V6 engine, it possesses all the power I need for both town and highway driving here in the Ozarks. The construction quality seems sublime when compared the 1998 Explorer Limited I've been driving. You won't get all the bells and whistles that US manufacturers are putting on SUVs but you will get quality, reliability, and intelligent design.
