Pros: Handling and AWD
Cons: Under powered by 25/30 hp.This car is wonderful to drive and handles like a BMW at times. Problem without Turbo auto is a bit under powered even with the manual 5 speed. Still for a short wheel base it feels great, stops on a dime and is very balanced. Low center of gravity and AW keeps auto glued to ground. Best car for the money in its class. First Subaru but won't be the last.
Best car I have ever owned
Pros: Turbo and mileage
Cons: Love it all5 speed Turbo. Live in mountains outside of Denver, and this is the best vehicle that I have ever owned. I have the 'driveway from hell' - suffice it to say that the local towing company knows my house well - and this car has never failed me. Bought it in 2003 and in 2010 has 80K miles. Only maint is the usual - oil changes and new plugs and air filter at 60K. Runs like a dream and gets average of 23 MPG combined city/hwy, and better than 28 on I70 too and from the ski areas (which obviously has many long climbs). Overall a great car - am hard pressed to even consider a new one, although at 64 the joints are giving trouble in my left foot and may have to go with an automatic. You absolutely can't go wrong with this car. We own 3 Subarus ('92 SVX, '01 Outback, and the '04 Forester) and would never buy anything else. They are the best value around (nothing else comes close for the price) and the quality is about the best out there.
Pros: Bluetooth hands free!
Cons: Navigation system little hard to understandI love the pearl color, the way it turns on a dime. and the gas mileage is great too!
Pros: Love the Puddle Lights.
Advice: Get one before they are all gone. This is our third Subaru an it is by far the BEST. With Ethanol free gas I get over 22 MPG in the City and have averaged over 33 MPG Hiway. It is good looking, packed with lots of goodies, solid and has no problems going in Snow of a possible 10 I'd give it a solid 10. Great job Subaru.
Pros: All wheel drive
Cons: Lack of power
Advice: Don't buy it if you are taller than 5' 10'No power. Needs a five speed automatic transmission. Sound system poor. Feels cheaply made inside. Dash controls feel like they will fall off when they are used.
Pros: snow handling (AWD)
Cons: stripped version/ questionable parts quality
Advice: If you have to buy, byt premium or limited.Unhappy. The advertized price if for a manual transmission. (Have to add $1200 extra for automatic: (false advertising)). The version 2.5X is stripped down version. (removed roof racks, removed fog lights, manual A/C..) Once you start the car, have to wait for at least 3 min for the blue light (coolant temp low) to go away!!!! Had it for 2 weeks, developed a huge windshield crack (service manager needed a flashlight to find the microscopic chip..) Basically not built to be of outdoorsman quality. If you have to buy, do go with the premium/limited version. (do not recommend the stripped down model.)
Pros: It drives like a car.
Cons: I haven't found any fault with it yet.
Advice: Buy one with all the bells and whistles.I took a test drive on the back roads of Arizona. This SUV zipped right up a 35 degree incline with no problem. It was as if the SUV itself was having fun. There were some deep ruts in the road and I hardly felt them. The vehicle has excellent rock clearance. The seats are very comfortable. I traded in my 2008 Chevy Truck for the Forrester and I don't regret it one bit.
