2003 Pontiac Vibe - AWD
Pros: Rear seats fold flat without removing headrest
Cons: No automatic door locks
Advice: Compare it with the VW Golf
Bought a VIBE 1 month ago. I am disapointed that it doesn't have automatic door locks. The rear cargo area is plastic. Drove home with groceries and they are all over the place. I bought indoor/outdoor carpeting to cover it and it provides enough friction to keep groceries in place. Rear carge area cover is a joke. You have to hook it in 4 places. I tightened it as tite as I could and it still bows in the middle. It is obvious that Pontiac never looked at the VW Golf to see how a rear cargo area covershould be designed. -
2003 Pontiac Vibe - AWD
Pros: Having a compartment for everything
Cons: The cargo area is very slippery.
Advice: Get the cargo mat. I would also recommend getting the power package
I love how high this car rides. It's kind of like a little big car. It handles like a smaller car but is roomy like a larger car. It has a great look and it turns heads. I would totally recommend this car. It's perfect for a small family. -
2003 Pontiac Vibe - AWD
Pros: roominess
Cons: bugs such as dashboard rattles and grating brakes, which suggest a cheaply made economy car
Advice: Don't rely on a brief test drive. Don't be taken in by superficial style. Consider alternatives.
Owner review (what does a short test drive prove?): In the three months I have owned this car, it has been a headache. The car's style appealed to me, but I soon encountered a lot of bugs. That glitzy dashboard has been the source of continual rattles (six times back to the dealership). When pressed all the way in, the brakes frequently have a harsh grating sound, sort of like a clutch in an old pickup. The sound is variable, but always an irritation. The car definitely is roomy, but tends to lean on curves, can be difficult to back because of obstructions, and has a slippery cargo floor (luggage slides all over the place and tie-downs are not very practical). Sorry to be so negative, but I suggest that prospective buyers very carefully examine the vehicle (including driving over rough surfaces and testing brakes on an incline). -
2003 Pontiac Vibe - AWD
Pros: Comfort, visibility of the road, and cargo utility
Cons: Needs a slightly more powerful engine
Advice: Overall, an excellent buy. Successful Toyota-Pontiac collaboration
An excellent alternative to gas guzzling SUV's. The Vibe rides like a bigger car, seats 5 comfortably, and has tons of cargo space. For the price, you can't beat it. Air conditioning, and am/fm CD is standard. Very good quality of workmanship for a new model. Although gas mileage is very good, a slightly stronger engine would be a plus. I'm spoiled however in this area since I also have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am GT with a V6, and have always driven either a V6 or a V8. -
2003 Pontiac Vibe - GT FWD
Pros: My favorite feature is the capability to fold down the front passenger seat along with the back seats..it provides so much room to carry things. I wish I had this car when I drove my daughter to college!!!
Cons: There is nothing I don't like about this car.
Advice: Buy and enjoy!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! This is such a comfortable vehicle. I love it's looks, I love the sound system, I love the moonroof!!!!!!!!! It drives so nicely!!! There is so much room in this car...I call it my little big car. -
2003 Pontiac Vibe - AWD
Pros: comfort
Cons: power windows/locks not standard
Advice: Buy it now with what is available. Hard for some dealers to get.
The interior seats are very comfortable & roomy. My husband has back problems & was very pleased with the comfort level. He could not drive nor ride in my prior car for longer than 1/2 hour. There are enough compartments for all your odds & ends that you need in your vehicle. Appearance, smooth ride, enough room for my 3 dogs, & laptop/cell phone accessibility sold us. If I knew financing would have lowered I would have waited the 2 weeks before I bought. -
2003 Pontiac Vibe - Base FWD
Pros: Comfrotable front seat, easy to get into.
Cons: Antenea on top hits garage door
Advice: Don't get optional 17-inch wheels. They come with high performance tires, which are Not for snow, expensive to replace..
I LOVE IT! It is sharp looking. The front seat is very roomy and extremely comfortable. It is very easy to get into, you just step straight in, not up or down. Lots of head room. Engine very powerful for a 4-cylinder. Wouldn't know it was a 4-cylinder. Shifts very smooth. Nice cargo area. Note: Optional 17-inch aluminum wheels come with high performance tires. These are NOT for snow and are very expensive to replace. PONTIAC ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IS AWESOME.
