Pros: flip front
Cons: Non existant trunk
Advice: don't buy if you need to carry anything bigger than a shaving kitTrunk is a joke,,,Honda, Mazda, and BMW figured out how to make an attractive 2 seater convertable with trunk space how come the lame brains at Pontiac couldn't????? I have more luggage space on my motorcycle... Otherwise it's a cool car,,,
Pros: the look AND the price
Cons: little trunk space
Advice: Get it now!Fun car! You are really driving when you are driving this Solstice. I like that about Pontiac's (my second Pontiac). This is a great car at a great price; I've had people stare, point, give me a thumbs up, and tell me they LOVE the way this car looks. I can't wait til springtime.
Pros: How it looks topless
Cons: cupholders & lack of storage
Advice: This is a very fun toy. Not very practical for everday useI have had my Solstice for about a month. It is very fun to drive. Handles superbly, more than adequate power, great rumble from the engine. It's gorgeous with the top down - can't wait for summer!
Pros: body style
Cons: a place for my golf clubs
Advice: If you can find one, BUY IT!!!Anyone who has seen this car in person is amazed. This is not like any car you will see on the road today. Most people can not believe it is a Pontiac. Sure, the later versions will have improvements, but there is nothing like driving a new incredible looking vehicle that turns heads, and is the envy of most drivers. This is a special auto, a classic for sure. Yes, there is no storage at all, however, I didn't buy it for hauling. I don't think GM will be able to keep the price down, as the demand will be to great. It is a great drive, tight on the turns, plenty of speed, and makes for a fun ride everytime. If your looking for a rag top, two seater sports car, I really can't think of any reason not to buy this auto. It is the best in it's class, and price.
Pros: the complete experience and look
Cons: shift between 1-2
Advice: make sure what you want as any roadster is not completely practical abd this one has an even smaller trunk than the norm . other than that you cant go wrongi have had my solstice for a few weeks and like a fine wine it continues to get better. that is not to say it is not w/o its faults but as a new introduction i find some of the review comments overly picky. yes the trunk is miniscule but its not like thats a surprise. The drivertrain is a little rough ( my complaint is a rough shift from 1-2nd) and yes the shift range between second and third is too wide. however the car corners on a string, rides well., gets decent mileage and is drop dead gorgeous. and i am not so feeble that i need power assist to stow the top and i find the upgraded interior very clean looking and not paticularly cheap. hopefully year two will see some refinement but from the moment i saw the car i wanted it and have not been disappointed. the reviews give the nod to the Miata but i say poo. of course one could question my sanity as prior to delivery i renovated the garage just to make a nicer home for it to spend some evenings in and buying a GM product for the very first time actually makes me feel good the way they are getting buffetted.
Cons: Needs more pep
Advice: This is a fun car and not a practical car. Do not fool yourselves though. It is more fun and more styllish can the bigger cars can possibly be. I think there is great possibility of it becoming a classic. You want to be really careful about using the cruise control in hilly and/or slippery conditions. The car is so well balanced that it can start to hydroplane without correct braking. I would not have said anything about the performance if I did not own other GM cars with the six cylinder engines. The six cylinder Chevys (my former Monte Carlo, my Tracker, my 2000 Camaro, and new 200 HP Malibu) have better snap and remarkably better gas mileage with the exception of the 4WD Tracker LT). If it was not for the attraction of owning one of the first 1000, I would have waited. Other little things: aluminum brake and clutch pads would be a nice touch, optional luggage rack or a little more storage space, and still trying to get use to the telescopic dash. The fuel reading is hard to see. I have to say that I like the set up in the wife's Malibu better. But it does feel tight and magical. Its look and feel is like a modern 53 Corvette.
Pros: body styling
Cons: the gas tank filling up the trunk space
Advice: consider getting an '07 as it has some nice improvements such as dual exhaustsIt has plenty of zip and it sticks to the road like a magnet thanks to its wide stance and abundance of rubber. This curvacious, sexy machine draws stares everywhere. IMO, it needs a little bit of wood decor to break up the plastic look in the interior. Maybe I'll do that to mine. I would prefer a few extra ponies and less weight, too. I know...same shortcomings everyone else has.
