Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: Stereo sound when I play my favorite music.
Cons: No windshield wiper in the rear window.
Advice: Buy it nowA wonderful vehicle. Getting used to accelerating took a few days, but now 3 months later I love it. Unlike the other reviewer I've never had any problems. The DVD sounds wonderful while driving. The 25 gallon gas tank is great too, but it's a gas guzzler.
Pros: exterior re-design... looks like an SUV not a minivan
Cons: the DVD player has electronic noie in the speakers from the engine and GM won't fix it!!!!
Advice: don't buy it if you have kids that use the DVD alot...the noise is really bad!!!!!Ok, we had a 2000 montana and just loved the redesign of the SV6....everything is really nice...more cupholders....better ride.....just overall a tighter vehicle than the 2000 model.....BIG PROBLEM we found the next day after we bought it.....when the DVD player is playing through the speakers, engine noise is coming through the speakers....not jsut a little alot....the dealer and GM said they will not fix it...and have found out it is possibly a problem with them all....so try it before you buy it...run a DVD and see if when you push the gas pedal you don't get some electronic intereference in the speakers.....GM customer service rep told me today 'We will close your file and call you an unsatisfied customer' DUH!!!! a 10 day old car and a refusal to fix my problem what elso would I be!!!! Other thatn this problem the car is fine...but as much as our kids use the DVD it is gonna peave me everytime I hear that noise that GM refused to fix it!!!! ENOUGH!!!!!!!
Cons: Controls not user friendly
Advice: Look beyond the exterior appearanceThe vehicle as a great appearance, handles good, but has more road noise than it should. Also wind noise is excessive. It is comfortable as for seating. More thought should have been put into the controls to be more user friendly. I am disappointed in the cargo space when all seating is being used in comparison to the 1999 Montana I previously owned. Overall not a bad vehicle.
Pros: Responsive steering, more car for the money
Cons: The red light instrument guages may take a little while to get used to at night
Advice: The savings with Pontiac is dramatic when you look at comparably equipped imports. The Montana has very good handling, decent acceleration, and fine braking. The seats are nicely contoured and the ride is quiet and well controlled. Most safety features are standard, such as driver and passenger front AND side impact air bags, ABS, and daytime running lamps. Other options are available individually or in packages. The integrated enterainment system includes cordless headphones and two channels. We also averaged 26 mpg on the highway! With the various GM rebates, the Montana is a great value compared to the imports.
Pros: Comfortable over long drives
Cons: Gas mileage not great - more like 18 city and 22 hwy. Headroom a little skimpy for a 6'6' driver
Advice: GM handles internet sales very well, If you are getting this as a family hauler, get the extended version. We've had this minivan for a year and a half and still love it. Great for long haul drives, handles well, pretty peppy even loaded up. Comfort and styling are terrific. Plenty of room for your 8 passengers.
Pros: Base vehicle comes with modular seats that are easy to lift out..
Cons: It's a minivan and drives like one.
Advice: Rebates & Discounts; purchased $ 26,000 list for $ 17,500. Keep on dealing!I have a growing family, son 3 1/2, daughter 11 months, and with all the usual gear (car seats, stoller, diaper bag, ect) there was no room left to carry anything else in our small sedans. I liked the Kia with all its options & low price, but didn't like 20 mpg highway & questioned Kia's first try at a minivan. Ford was too expensive & wouldn't/couldn't deal. The Pontiac was nicer than the Chevy (Too many Ventures on the road & they all looked the same). The Pontiac has a more sportier look (Our is silver w/black cladding), nice solid supportive seats, good mileage. There is no mistaking it for any thig but a minivan-don't try taking a fast sweeping turn too fast because it won't. But I purchased it to get my family around in confort at a price I could afford.
Pros: power sliding doors and dvd player
Cons: headrests are uncomfortable
Advice: Buy it, You'll Love it!This is the best van I have ever owned. I have had a Ford Windstar, Dodge Caravan, and a Chev. Lumina Van. My ford broke down a lot, the caravan was gutless and felt cheap, the lumina was great with 135,000 miles on it. I love all the features, especially the dvd player and power sliding doors and it gets great gas mileage. It has a very quiet ride and it is awesome to drive. I also like the look because it is a little different than every other mini-van out there. The only things I would change is the headrests and add lumbar support, otherwise it is perfect.
