    Pros: Stump-pulling torque.

    Cons: Boy-racer rear wing/spoiler. Should be a delete-option.

    Advice: Do not drive unless you really want a new car because you will have to have it! Invest is a Passport.

    Do not test drive this car unless you have the funds to purchase it! This car brought a smile to my face. It is just what I have been looking for in a vast sea of 'appliances as transportation.' I have been in a continuius search for a car to love and I have now found it. Breathtakingly quick. Every drive is fun with vast torque on demand and quick. After spending 30 years owning cars from a Fiat 850, Vega, Rabbit, RX-7, 626, Accord, RX-7 (2nd generation), Merkur Scorpio, Acura Legend, BMW Z3, MINI Cooper, to my current Lexus GX470 - this vehicle is what I have been missing all these years. You don't have to speed to have fun, you just have to get from 0 to speed quick and the smile resumes. The SOUND reminds me of an old Ski Nautique inboard boat - what a throaty rumble - sounds better than a Harley! This is the car for a car lover nut who does not want to be 'in your face.' A rather stealth vehicle which is 'under the radar.' This car makes me enthusiastic again about my car. My Lexus is nicer, but this car is more fun.

    2004 Pontiac GTO - Base

    Pros: whomping stomping 6.0 Liter (366 cu in) OHV V8

    Cons: Window sill height - needs to make the driver feel wrapped in tight safe cockpit

    Advice: Buy a stick shift to avoid the federal gas guzzler tax

    I have a 2005 Cyclone Gray GTO in automatic form. This car is fast! Those journalists who have no clue how to shift give the 6 speed a rating of 5.0 in 60 seconds and I'd hate to see the false advertisement of the auto. The truth is the auto is slightly faster than the stick. It has the ability to hustle the car from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and there's a stopwatch inside the 2005 GTO to prove that point over and over again. The quality of the GTO is light years from any standard GM product. The move was highly intelligent to use Monaro as the platform base for the GTO. So for all the ridiculous statements that it ain't made in America, the truth is the engine and performance is as red blooded American as any muscle car from the 1960s. I'm not going to complain that it has Australian influences (they have hot blonde surfer chicks there). The fact is the Holden Monaro CV8 is the perfect platform to work from. Yes, they could have been slightly more aggressive in exterior styling. Thank God they didn't go all out retro, that would get old sometime and freshening would only ruin the original retro look. A stock GTO will stomp a stock Mustang GT anyday. The facts are there and sure the Mustang GT will win in the looks department because it's a chick's or a secretary's car. The GTO is about brute force and power. Big engine in a little car. The new GTO fits that image well but it is more sophisticated than the original. Don't get me wrong, I love the new Ford Mustang GT, but I like the GTO better. The fact I can fit adults in the back is an added bonus I never thought of until I took a ride back there myself. So nice to share the performance.

    Advice: if your looking for a great performance car under 35,000 BUY IT !!!!

    If you pull up this car at a red light don't be fooled,there's a good chance you'll get your doors blown off.Great torque at any speed.very nice interior design.Great handling.Waiting for the 05' was worth it.

    Advice: get in and rive it before judging. If you find one, they are sold out here before they come in.

    The car likes to be driven fast. Great cornering, acceleration, and comfort. I believe it looks great without a lot of plastic bolt-ons, and since I purchased the sport package which replaces some factory parts with more aggressive GM bumpers, side skirts, spoiler and a different exhaust, It does stand out more than the 04. I wish I could have gotten navigation systems but can get a built in locally for less than a bmw factoy option. The stick is very close ratio and strong, The new LS2 powerplant is flawless and full of guts. I figure I saved at least 10 to $20,000 over others I was considering. A very fun car. I may have to buy another, my wife has been gone all day with it, was due back hours ago!

    2004 Pontiac GTO - Base

    Pros: 6 CD changer/stereo

    Cons: rear visable,rear seat access, wheels,design,price

    Advice: you pay alot for the GTO badge, I believe this is a 27000.00 car without the name

    I purchased this car without doing my homework, I did not test drive it, being it was the middle of winter. When I finally did drive it in the spring, I was very dissapointed with it. The rear view from the driver seat is terrible. Access to the rear seat is not good. The gas mileage on the 6-speed is severly overated.(best on the highway for me was 22.5) The heater works good but is very noisy, The road noise is terrible. handling is OK but not great. Power is OK but not great. I believe Pontiac released the 2004 model to soon, now with the 05 out and the new 6.0 with hood scoopes and a better looking exhaust system, my 2004 is just about worthless. (GM is offering a 5000.00 rebate on the 04 also) I believe Pontiac could have made this car more to resemble the classic GTO, something like Ford did with the Mustang. The 2004 GTO is actually a 25500.00 car and the rest is for the GTO badge.I believe the buyers of the 2004 model, (like myself) got screwed by Pontiac, and unless they give the 04 buyers the 5000.00 rebate that there are currently offering, (it won't happen!!) I will never purchase another GM vehicle again. I did make a 34000.00 mistake with this car, but I only blame myself

    Cons: rremote entry key is too big

    Advice: Don't shy away from the GTO just because it is a Pontiac cause it definitely is not a your typical Pontiac

    I stopped at the dealership strictly to test drive the GTO and wound up taking one home that night. The car is an awesome ride, handles well and has more than enough power. The interior is very comfortable and of a much higher quality than typical GM models...2 thumbs up
