2002 Pontiac Firebird - Base Coupe

    Pros: PERFORMANCE and SOUND

Cons: So far, I am pleased

Advice: If you want PERFORMANCE, than this is for you!! If you want a smooth luxurious ride, than consider something else!!!

I have owned 2 Trans Ams. My 1st was not a RAM AIR! SO, I bought a brand new TRANS AM RAM AIR in June 2000. After 2 years,I still LOVE my car. I am a female driver and get alot of attention driving a hot rod like this! Most people love and comment on this car. The car is LOUD, FAST and is always a JOY to drive!! You know when you start it up and hear the roar, that she will take you for a ride that is AWESOME!! I considered a corvette but decided that it was over priced and my Trans Am offered me more than the vette!! My Trans Am can run with a vette and even has a backseat!! (If you fold down the backseat, you have alot of room to work with!) I am very upset at GM for discontinuing the last real affordable muscle cars around!! I seriously doubt I will purchase a GM vehicle again, since they have nothing to offer now!!! Gm, your devoted Firebird drivers are very dissapointed and hope come to your senses and bring back the Firebirds soon!!

2002 Pontiac Firebird - Base Coupe

Pros: The T-tops and the quick turning.

Cons: The glare from the dashboard no matter how dirty or clean it is.

Advice: Make sure you buy new and have a warranty! (smile) and enjoy it!

I bought my car used in 1999. I own a Pontiac Firebird Coupe (1996). I enjoy my car overall except for the fact that it's continuely falling apart. The transmission is already slipping and for some reason it keeps misfiring no matter how many times I change the spark plugs and wires. (those platinum ones that are supposed to last forever) I am now putting it in the shop today to get the head gasket replaced and the valve seals. If anyone can offer me suggestions and or advice please send me email to nydiamondny@yahoo.com, i would be happy to listen. I would love to one day fix the car and hook it up nice.

2002 Pontiac Firebird - Trans Am Coupe

    Pros: Body style/speed

Cons: Hard to get into tight parking spaces.

Advice: Not a family car; not bad on gas if you keep your foot light but the power is there when you need it or just want it!

I LOVE DRIVING MY TRANS AM! I had always wanted a great sports car and had always admired the Firebird/Trans Am's so when the dream finally became reality I was like a new mother with her new baby. Nothing like that V-8 rumble and the way it handles when speeding down the interstate or around curves is awesome! Definitely the best car I've ever owned. A true shame that they are going to stop making them. What's up with that? By the way, I am a woman, yes a WOMAN who loves to drive FAST CARS!!

2002 Pontiac Firebird - Trans Am Coupe

Pros: The power of the LS1.

Cons: The cold start piston slap in the LS1 that GM refuses to fix.

Advice: Get a written guarantee that they will FIX the car if it starts knocking after a few thousand miles.

All the published specs for this car are wrong. This is what this car is REALLY capable of: Showroom stock 12.9 @ 107 mph down the track. (2.03 60ft) 31 mpg on the highway 23 in town (light foot). The horsepower rating is too low. These cars are putting out the same power as the Vette. Dyno tests show 300-320hp at the wheels! Handles great! Hurst shifter is VERY nice! Awesome stereo for factory. There is no better sound than the rumble of a V8. This is the PERFECT performance car under $40K. Thank you GM for an awesome car! It is truly a shame you are no longer going to make them. This may be the last GM vehicle I ever buy. None of the others appeal to me at all.

2002 Pontiac Firebird - Trans Am Convertible

Pros: I loved the Hurst shifter, VERY nice.

Cons: The car's turning radius is tighter to the left than to the right.

Advice: This is one of the best drag racers in its class, don't tell the cops.

My only complaint is that the car has a tighter turning radius to the left than it dose to the right. Otherwise I love the V-8 engine with the big hod scoops for the ram air. It acceleates nicely for a stock car and the styling is nice too, if not a little too rounded in some places. But this is what GM sports cars are all about, get some engine power going, and scare all those little Honda boys. As a former Civic owner I know that the Firebird is a hell of a lot nicer. The Hurst Shifter is VERY nice. Unlike some other shifters, there is no screwing around to find the gear you want. With Hurst, you think it, you got it. You can bet I'll be spending some time in my garage this summer. By the time I'm through with it, it will be a whole new car.
