Getting firsthand information from an actual car owner is one sure way to get an idea of car performance once it leaves the lot. Autobytel features real consumer reviews that give the unbiased experience of a car.
Pros: The exterior car shape
Cons: the bumpy ride
Advice: Check it out. Overall it can stand against the other mid-sized sedans.I found the ride to have too much road feel on the driver's side. The traction in the tires on a wet road was lacking in performance. The 4 cylinder engine is a bit noisy on acceleration. Everything else about this car is great. It makes a good family car while remaining stylish and sporty.
Pros: heated seats
Advice: great car for the moneyI have owned my Diamante for 3 years (25,000 miles) with very few complaints. I do 90% in-town driving and get about 19 mpg. The few complaints I do have are that the back window rattles when open, the tires are already worn out at 25,000 miles, and the horn sounds like a moped but that's minor. The stereo system ROCKS and the heated seats are not only appreciated during our cold winters, but during long trips as well. I hear the back seat is comfortable, but I wouldn't know, I'm not giving up the driver's seat! By the way I have a 2002 and it DOES have a pass-through from the trunk - the back seat arm rest when in the 'down' position has a door that opens and closes; while not complete seat-sized, you can fit a couple of pairs of skis through it.
Cons: does not have remote entry
Advice: Go For It!Drives great! Love the car compared to like models. Much more resonably price.
Pros: AWD, turbocharged engine, speed, Recaro seats, great warranty, styling.
Cons: No security system, no cruise control, expensive tires, cheap radio.
Advice: Go straight for the MR edition, much better car than the standard or RS version. When the MR edition came out, I traded in my 03 Evo for one. The MR is so much better, the 6-speed, clutch, and driving experience is much more pleasant than my other Evo. The car is so fast, performs great, interior space is great, and I love the looks. Kids from high school give me thumbs up all the time when I drive by. The car however does need cruse control, and a security system. And watch for dealer markups on these cars. My opinion to you is to wait for the 06 Evo, it will be freshin up a bit. And if you can, wait for the 07 Evo which will be an all new model.
Pros: The handling--excellent variable ratio power steering
Cons: Wiper control is not real intuitive and gearshift position not always easy to read. Top anchoring point for driver's seat belt is not high enough on door pillar to reach easily
Advice: Make sure you understand it does not have a full trunk to back seat pass-through for wide objects if that feature has been important to you in the past. Prescribed oil is not available just anywhere. If you keep a backup supply you'll have to shop aroundBefore I took delivery on my 04 Galant, I watched the dealer's guy take one to the wash rack and I was impressed by how this car can haul butt from a standstill (confirmed when I got behind the wheel). My wife and I both like the edgy good looks and solid comfort inside. Driver fatigue on long trips has been a problem for me in prior cars, but way less so with the Galant. It's a great road car and has plenty of room for everyone, INCLUDING the rear seat passengers. Compares very (very) favorably to Accord and Camry.
Pros: Exterior looks
Cons: Dashboard material
Advice: Drive it after you test drive the big threeBest ride since I owned a Cadillac. 4 cylinder is fast enough for most situations, have a hard time keeping it under 70 mph. This is my 3rd Galant and each one gets better. Handles like a luxury car with an attitude.
Pros: Keyless entry/power everything/huge trunk space/lots of room
Cons: honestly cant think of anything.
Advice: GO FOR IT!!I just bought a 2004 Galant. This car has amazing pick up for a 4 cylinder. It looks a lot like a Altima, but less expensive. It is a beautiful car and handles great!! It rides and looks like a brand new vehicle...and it is 2 years old.
