Good car but has a lot of road noise..
Lots of Bells and Whistles, But ...
Pros: Incredibly well-equipped vehicle ... small SUV bordering on the luxurious.
Cons: Gas mileage, noisy cabin. My '08 VOGA Edition (limited production model in the Premier series) looks fabulous, and for the most part is a very serviceable vehicle. A strong, well-performing V6, dual a/c, power seat, moonroof, leather (almost white), CD changer (which actually works!) are but a few amenities. The downside: gas mileage (overall just about 18 mpg), probably due to an antiquated 4 speed transmission (the newer models have a 6 speed); it's built on a truck platform, so the ride is a bit stiff; there always seems to be a rattle or creak (took 5 visits to find the most annoying one); not as quiet on the inside as previous SUV's I've owned. I've still got about half the warranty left, and will likely consider selling it just before it expires. Let's hope that when it becomes a Lincoln in '11, those negative issues will be addrssed.
I am an old lady and I feel real safe in this car.
Cons: Back seatsEasy to handle, looks great, rides nice, good price, safe, etc. Has almost everything I could want for a great price.
Cons: NoneRides very good. Getting 30 mpg with 4cyl. Have ingoy silver, beautiful color. Only had for a month, so far very happy.
Pros: heated seats!
Cons: access to the jack
Advice: drive a honda first..and then try the Mariner Premier..same price, no comparisonAfter two years in the Escape Hybrid 2WD (not recommended) I was looking for something that was quieter, more comfortable, large enough to transport an 85 pound dog, a kayak or skiis..and provided the safety of full air bag and electronic stability control. The price point on the upgraded Premier Mariner was far more competetive with the equipment than any of the others in this class. It drives and handles extremely well, with a smooth ride, good acceleration, excellent trim and finish, and it is QUIET inside! I am not one to extol the virtues of any car I buy..and all of them have had their weaknesses. However, I think this Mariner is nearly as perfect a design of any SUV in the price range. Oh, and the back-up sensor system ( my first) is absolutely great for parking and backing movements!
